Overview
First Impressions
MODERN LUXE APT just 10 MINS from TOWER BRIDGE! EASY ACCESS TO TUBE AND BUS caught my attention with its enthusiastic name, and honestly, it delivers on that energy. This apartment sits on Old Kent Road in Southwark, which might not sound glamorous at first, but stick with me here. The building itself is pretty standard from the outside, but once you’re inside Flat 31, you realize someone put real thought into making this space work for travelers.
The Space
What struck me immediately was how the owners actually understand what visitors need. The kitchen isn’t just for show — it’s got proper appliances and enough space to cook a decent meal if you’re tired of eating out. The living area flows naturally into the sleeping space, and while it’s compact, everything feels purposeful rather than cramped. You know what I mean? It’s that kind of setup where you’re not constantly bumping into furniture or searching for outlets.
Location Reality Check
Old Kent Road gets a bad rap sometimes, but I found it refreshingly real compared to the tourist-packed areas. The bus connections are genuinely excellent — you’ve got multiple routes that’ll get you across London without the tube if that’s your thing. Walking to Tower Bridge really does take about ten minutes, and I actually enjoyed the route through the quieter residential streets. Plus, there’s a Tesco just down the road, which becomes surprisingly important when you want to grab breakfast supplies or a bottle of wine.
Getting Around
The nearest tube stations are Elephant & Castle and Borough, both walkable but not exactly next door. However, the bus network from this spot is honestly better than I expected — direct routes to central London, and you can actually get a seat during off-peak hours. I found myself using the buses more than the underground, partly because you see more of the city that way. The four-star rating makes sense when you factor in how well-connected this area actually is, even if it’s not zone 1.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it strikes that sweet spot between authentic London living and tourist practicality. You’re staying in a real neighborhood where locals go about their daily lives, but you can still reach the major sights without drama. The apartment itself feels like someone’s carefully curated home rather than a sterile hotel room, and there’s something refreshing about having your own front door key instead of dealing with hotel lobbies. For the price point and the genuine local experience, it’s exactly what a lot of travelers are actually looking for, even if they don’t realize it at first.

"Superb"
It was quite homey and comfortable. There were two bedrooms each with a Queen bed. One of the bedrooms had a bathroom inside and plenty of storage space. The living room area has a smart TV and dining area plus a patio. Other than that, the kitchen has everything you could need for a short stay. There are two bathrooms, one with a bathtub and the other with a shower; each of them includes towels and soaps. It was quite warm inside which is perfect for the winter and the building is well protected with two automated doors. Deliveries are easy considering the intercom system. Also, important to mention that there is a lift ideal if you have elderly traveling with you. Outside, you can find an ASDA supermarket and a McDonald's across the road. Didn't struggle too much getting around from the apartment and the nearest bus station is a 6 mins walk.
What could be improved: The neighborhood was alright

"Excellent"
The apartment was very clean and cozy, Perfect for a family of 4! There were complimentary cookies, chocolate, teas and coffee pods which were great! The location is very close to the bus stand and in general a good distance from the central London. Overall the experience was really good, would definitely recommend.
What could be improved: Getting the keys and entering the apartment for the first time was a little confusing.

"Close to the bus stop, making travelling easier. Tight space but good enough for a small family."
Bus station was very close to the apartment. There is also a nearby supermarket and mcdonalds. Host quick to respond and friendly. Met a sweet neighbor and her son too.
What could be improved: Tight space and bed relatively small for 2 adults. Loud noise from outside when the window is open. Many police cars driving past in the evening.

"Good location, spacious and clean!"
Spacious, clean. Supplied tea and coffee and snacks. Had everything we needed. There is a market across the road as well. Beds were comfortable and the place was warm. In a busy street but quite inside. Easy access to bus stop.
What could be improved: Too many doors.
Couldn’t enjoy the outdoor balcony due to very noisy traffic.

"Clean and relatively comfortable property, but new beds and a cleaner kitchen would help!"
Self-catering, so not applicable
What could be improved: Cleaner kitchenware - everything had to be washed again. Useful that we had some of our own utensils.
The wide doors meant that passage through the house was an issue.
Beds were uncomfortable.

"Good"
- Straightforward check in process
- Helpful guide provided
- Nicely decorated
What could be improved: - Towels were tiny. Not big enough for a woman to cover her whole body
- No outlander near the bed in one of the bedrooms
- No adjustable shower heads, so no way not to get your hair wet or clean the shower after use
- The balcony felt a bit unsafe because there's a wobbly plank right by the railing
- We found a used dental pick in the wardrobe
- The flat is rather hot, so we had to keep the fan running even at night
- Very uncomfortable sofa

"Good"
The apartment is beautiful, spacious, and well-equipped. However, the location isn't so great, and it's not very close to the tourist attractions in the city center. You need to take a bus and then the subway to reach the center, which takes about 30-45 minutes to get there
What could be improved: The most unpleasant part is the noise. In the center of the apartment, there's a locked room with a machinery (the host told us it's the boiler) that makes a very loud noise. The vibrations carry through the walls into the two bedrooms, making it impossible to get any rest at night. It's very annoying.

"Enjoyed it! Would book again!"
Property location is really nice - within a mile of the tube station. Very conveniently located to a grocery store, a McDonalds and many other locations nearby.
What could be improved: Appears to be a mid/high crime area - very surprised at how many police cars are moving around in the evenings.

"Great apartment and great experience."
We had a great experience staying here recently. The apartment was very clean and spacious, with comfortable beds and a lovely outdoor seating area on the balcony. The small touches like providing tea/coffee/biscuits and toiletries in the showers were really appreciated. The host Sarah could not be more helpful and very accommodating. The apartment is located very close to local supermarkets/shops so we had access to everything we needed. The area was nice and we could easily travel to from different areas within London.
What could be improved: The only small detail was not having direct access to the underground for transport. However, the bus stop was right beside the apartment that could bring you into central London or an underground station. Uber was also pretty cheap and easy to use in that area, therefore this wasn’t a big issue for us. It also doesn’t reflect on the quality of our stay or stop us from considering staying here again.
