Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Modern Flat in Central London on New Oxford Street, you’re hit with that classic London mix of historic architecture and urban energy. The building itself isn’t flashy — it’s one of those solid Victorian structures that Camden does so well — but there’s something reassuring about stepping into a space that feels like a proper London home rather than just another hotel room.

The Heart of Camden

Honestly, the location is what sold me on this place. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the British Museum, which means you can actually pop over there multiple times without feeling like you’re committing to a whole day trip. London‘s theater district is right there too — I mean, you can walk to most West End shows without needing the Tube. The street itself has that perfect Camden buzz with independent bookshops and cafés tucked between the bigger chain stores.

The Flat Experience

What I love about this four-star setup is how it actually feels like staying in someone’s thoughtfully designed London flat rather than a cookie-cutter hotel. The space has been modernized without losing that London character — you know, proper high ceilings and original features mixed with contemporary touches that actually work. The kitchen is compact but surprisingly well-equipped, which comes in handy when you want to grab groceries from the Sainsbury’s down the street and have a quiet breakfast before hitting the museums.

Neighborhood Rhythms

The area has this great rhythm to it — busy during the day with tourists and office workers, but it settles down nicely in the evenings. There’s a solid Turkish restaurant just around the corner that locals actually go to (always a good sign), and the pub scene here strikes that balance between tourist-friendly and authentically London. You’re close enough to Covent Garden and Soho for dinner options, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the chaos when you just want to get home.

Why Guests Love It

What really makes this place work is how it gives you that “living in London” feeling without the usual apartment rental hassles. The 8.8 rating makes sense when you experience how everything just… works. The WiFi is reliable (crucial for planning your daily adventures), the shower has proper water pressure, and there’s enough space to spread out your things without feeling cramped. Plus, having Russell Square and Bloomsbury right on your doorstep means you’ve got those lovely garden squares for morning coffee when the weather cooperates — which, let’s be honest, is more often than London’s reputation suggests.

Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in London before spring brings blossom-lined parks, pop-up exhibitions, and warm evening strolls.

"Fabulous location for theatres and high street shopping."
No breakfast as this was a self-service apartment. The location was fantastic. the beds were very comfy and the bathroom spacious.
What could be improved: Ideally a separate toilet, especially for the morning when there are three of you and one person is in the shower.

"We enjoyed our one night stay. Suited 2 couples transiting through London."
Good location to public transport, shopping and food.
What could be improved: Can be noisy at night as on a busy street. Tight staircase to get suitcases up.

"Would definitely cone back."
I liked the location of the flat, the modern decor. The beds were super comfortable.
What could be improved: I don’t like the entrance hall way of the building (granted not the actual flat) but the security box is not easily accessible. A digital box at eye level and not in a cubby hole would’ve been better.

"Very good"
It was very convenient for the things we had planned. Compact and comfortable. The beds were really comfy and the bed linen was lovely quality. The kitchen was very well equipped and the bathroom was very nice and spacious
What could be improved: The curtains could be bigger to be useful and it would look nicer too. The rug in the kitchen is really quite a trip hazard and the coffee machine was dirty and still had pods in it. There was no hot water and no tea towel either so we had to use the dishwasher. The sofa in the living room was really pretty badly stained. When we arrived the key code didn't work and so we had to contact the owner. These are all very small things but they make a big difference.

"Brilliant location for what you pay could just do with a little finesse but overall very clean and worth the money."
Beds were really comfy, all very clean, great space, quiet, huge bathroom. Even had an iron and board which was great! Lovely there was a fan in the double bedroom as it got quite hot. Great to have an already set up Netflix account for the flat. Lovely little shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in the bathroom, great to have towels provided, coffee machine was available could have maybe done with the small long life milks for if you were staying just one night and didn’t want to have to buy milk.
What could be improved: Could have done with a socket to both sides of the bed in the double room, loose sockets in several places, socket missing out the wall with visible wires near dining table, no hot water in the bathroom. Could have done with some kind of light curtain so you can open the main curtains to allow light in but not have the whole street see you. Curtains could do with being blackout. Also we were mistakenly given the wrong code for the key and after 7 calls and a voice mail managed to get in. Communication was a little slow for me but for most it would be fine.
