First Impressions

When I first walked into Modern 2 bed – Olympic Park Stratford, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect — it’s one of those unique boutique spots that doesn’t fit neatly into traditional hotel categories. Located in Festuca House right on Mirabelle Gardens in Newham, this place feels more like staying in a friend’s well-appointed flat than a typical hotel. The building itself is contemporary, part of the newer development wave that transformed this area after the 2012 Olympics.

Location & Getting Around

You know what really struck me about this spot? It’s genuinely in the heart of where things are happening in East London. The Olympic Park is literally on your doorstep — I mean, you can walk to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in about five minutes. Stratford station is close enough that you’ll hear the occasional rumble of trains, but honestly, it becomes white noise after the first night. The Westfield shopping center is right there too, which is actually pretty handy when you realize you’ve forgotten something essential.

The Space Itself

The two-bedroom setup works really well if you’re traveling with family or friends who actually want some space from each other. Each room has proper beds (not sofa beds, thank goodness), and there’s a living area that doesn’t feel cramped. The kitchen is probably the standout feature — it’s actually functional, with a proper fridge, decent cooktop, and enough counter space to prep real meals if you’re tired of eating out every night.

What Makes It Work

I’ll be straight with you — the service here isn’t what you’d get at a traditional hotel with round-the-clock concierge. But that’s sort of the point. You get your keys, settle in, and the place becomes yours for however long you’re staying. The Wi-Fi works well (I was working remotely some days), and there’s enough storage that you don’t feel like you’re living out of a suitcase. The windows are decent-sized, so you actually get natural light, which makes a difference when you’re staying somewhere for more than just a night or two.

Why Guests Love It

What really sells this place is the combination of space and location without the premium you’d pay for central London. You’re still well-connected — the Tube gets you to central London in about 20 minutes — but you’re paying Stratford prices, not Covent Garden ones. Plus, there’s something refreshing about staying in a part of London that feels like it’s still figuring itself out. The neighborhood has this mix of new developments and older community spots that gives you a more authentic sense of how Londoners actually live, rather than just where they work and shop.
