Mannbuilding isn’t your typical hotel name, and honestly, that’s the first thing that caught my attention when I arrived in London’s Newham borough. This four-star property sits on Prince Regent Lane, and while the area might not scream tourist hotspot, there’s something refreshingly authentic about staying here — you’re in real London, not the sanitized version.
Location & Getting Around
Prince Regent Lane puts you squarely in East London, which I’ll admit took some getting used to. But here’s what I discovered — you’re actually well-connected to central London via the DLR and various bus routes. The area has this genuine residential feel that you just don’t get in Zone 1, and frankly, it’s kind of nice to escape the tourist crowds at the end of the day. Plus, Newham has been quietly transforming over the years, so you’ll find some surprisingly good local spots if you’re willing to explore a bit.
The Room Experience
My room was larger than I expected — actually, that seems to be a theme here. The furnishings are modern without trying too hard, and the bed was genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses). What I appreciated most was the attention to practical details: proper lighting for reading, enough outlets for all my devices, and a decent-sized desk if you need to get some work done. The bathroom was well-appointed, though nothing particularly fancy — just solid and functional.
Dining & Amenities
The on-site restaurant serves up a mix of British and international dishes, and while it won’t win any awards, the food is honest and reasonably priced. I mean, you’re not staying here for a Michelin-star experience anyway. What I found more valuable was the helpful front desk staff who actually knew the neighborhood — they pointed me toward a fantastic Indian place just a ten-minute walk away that I never would’ve found otherwise. There’s also parking available, which is honestly a blessing in London if you’re driving.

Look, Mannbuilding isn’t going to wow you with flashy amenities or a prestigious address, but that 8.3 rating tells the real story. It’s the kind of place that gets the basics right — clean rooms, reliable service, and fair value for money in a city where hotel costs can be brutal. You know what really sold me? The genuine warmth of the staff and the fact that I felt like I was staying somewhere with character rather than another cookie-cutter chain hotel. If you’re comfortable venturing beyond the typical tourist zones and want to experience London from a different angle, this place delivers exactly what it promises.

"Super nice and helpful host! She makes sure we have everything we need and feel welcome :) Clean room with a lot of usef"
On top of the necessities, the room was also equipped with many useful items like hair dryer, kettle, coffee, mini fridge, and even a TV. We can replace and have extra towels without extra charges. The place is right next to a bus station.
What could be improved: The shower does not have a door and cannot keep the water inside so whenever we take a shower, the whole floor is wet.

"Clean, comfortable rooms with a lovely host."
Perfect location for Newham Hospital and good transport links for the rest of London.

What could be improved: It was very hot in Room 1 due to the sun coming in, so a fan would be useful.
Some opaque privacy film on the windows in Room 1 would also be a good idea as the blinds have some gaps around them.

"Brilliant hotel and great value for money"
Clean rooms, comfortable beds, provision of toothbrushes and toothpaste, staff running the hotel are amazing and very responsive. I’ve stayed here many times now and would recommend. Very good value for money.

"Stayed for 1 night for an event at the 02. Comfy room, clean and a lovely host"
location was good. Easy reach of 2 tube stations and buses outside. Comfy clean room with nice touches like water in the fridge and toiletries in the bathroom. Host was very helpful with everything, showing us to our room and giving us info on the surrounding area.
What could be improved: We had a downstairs room at the front which was quite noisy with traffic

"Superb"
The host is very kind and helpful and the room was clean. We had all the facilities we needed in the room. The bus station is right outside of the accomodation making it very easy to get to the metro station or to other bus stations. If you need to buy something there are shops and little restaurants nearby and also a Tesco Express.

"Reasonably priced, clean, great facilities and comfortable hotel"
This property is very conveniently situated for me, and is also on a high street so has restaurants and some shops close by. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable and the price is very reasonable. The lady who runs the hotel is lovely and easy to contact if you have questions etc.

"A little gem at an affordable price close to ExCel"
A little gem at an affordable price close to ExCel. Decent size bath towel and a flannel, loads of milk and bottled water. Outside area to sit although I didn't have opportunity to use it.

"Very happy with my stay here and would return due to the friendliness, cleanliness and nice rooms"
The owners are so friendly and great outgoing people which were more then helpful on my journey finding things out and about. The pillows were also very comfy. And the room was lovely and tidy with a well rounded pleasant stay
What could be improved: Can be a little bit noisy in the early evening from above till about 11pm but as I am not an early sleeper this wasn't an issue for me
