When I first pulled up to Kingston Flat on Skerne Road, I’ll be honest — it doesn’t look like your typical hotel from the outside. This four-star property feels more like discovering a well-kept secret in a quiet residential area of Kingston upon Thames. The building has that understated British charm that doesn’t need to shout about itself, and you know what? That actually works in its favor.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about staying in this part of Kingston — you’re genuinely living like a local rather than being stuck in some touristy bubble. The Thames is literally a five-minute walk away, and I mean the proper riverside path where you can actually breathe and think. Kingston town center is close enough that you can stroll there for dinner or shopping, but far enough that you won’t hear the weekend crowds from your room. The train connections to central London are actually pretty decent from Kingston station, though it’s about a 15-minute walk or quick bus ride.
The Space Itself
What struck me most was how thoughtfully laid out everything is inside. Each unit feels like a proper apartment rather than a cramped hotel room — there’s actual space to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase. The kitchen setup is genuinely useful too, not just some tiny kettle-and-mini-fridge situation. I ended up cooking a few meals there, which saved money and honestly felt quite nice after days of eating out in London.
What Makes It Work
The staff here seem to actually care about getting things right, which you notice in small ways — fresh towels appear without you having to hunt someone down, the WiFi actually works properly, and when I had a question about local buses, the person at reception knew the answer off the top of their head. There’s parking available too, which anyone who’s tried to park in London will appreciate. The whole place just runs smoothly without any fuss or drama.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
Look, this isn’t the flashiest place you’ll ever stay, and it doesn’t pretend to be. But sometimes that’s exactly what you want — somewhere comfortable and well-run where you can properly relax between exploring London or conducting business. The 9.6 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here; it delivers on what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. For the price point and location, it’s honestly hard to find fault with the place, especially if you value having some actual space and the option to prepare your own meals occasionally.

"We had the most enjoyable time in Kingston!"
The location of this flat is fantastic. Easy to get to and from Heathrow Airport with the SL7 bus. Also easy to get the train to Waterloo when going in to London city. The flat has everything you need, the bed is comfortable, it's warm and it is clean. Great shopping opportunities close by, lots of restaurants and pubs to enjoy. Michael is the perfect host, always ready to help if help is needed.
What could be improved: The only thing that I think could have improved the stay is if it were possible to have a choice between having two individual duvets instead of one single duvet... this however is a preference and not a necessity... I'm a fidgety sleeper and tend to hog the blankets.

"Simply great!"
This was my first experience of booking a self catering holiday accommodation. My guest really enjoyed their stay there and I am encouraged to try booking it again. Thoughtful owner. Clean and well stocked apartment. The welcome pint of milk in the fridge was a nice touch.
What could be improved: Got lost a couple of times and wondered whether there is a quick way to get to Seven Kings Way, which is visible from the flat. Also, I tried to go in through the front door and got as far as the lifts before getting confused. There are directions to get to almost all the flats except for a handful including this one. It would be good if Building Management can address that.

The flat was modern, spacious and comfortable. It was very close i.e. walking distance to public transport (both the train station and the bus stop), shops as well green areas where you can stroll along the river. The flat was well equipped with various kitchen utensils, wifi and a television. The check in and check out process was smooth. Michael the host was friendly and easily contactable. The flat is well represented by the photos and met expectations.
What could be improved: The door mechanism for the flat was a little tricky to use but Michael (the host) sent through clear instructions and once you understand the mechanism, it isn’t a problem. To be clear, this was a minor dislike and everything else about the property was great - I would definitely choose to stay here again.

"The perfect place to stay in Kingston on Thames"
The flat was extremely well furnished so much so that we felt at home for the first time on our two months trip. The location was perfect for walking the Thames and Hampton Court. I would highly recommend this flat.
What could be improved: There was absolutely nothing to dislike!

Apartment renewed with personal care and attention to detail. Michael always reponded quickly to questions and the directions to arrive were very clear. The street is so quiet, even with the train station and city center nearby.
