Maisonette Hyde Park
First Impressions
Walking up to Maisonette Hyde Park on Craven Hill Gardens, you’d honestly miss it if you weren’t looking — and that’s exactly the point. This five-star boutique hotel feels more like stepping into someone’s incredibly well-appointed London townhouse than checking into a typical luxury property. The Georgian facade blends seamlessly with the residential street, which I actually love because it means you’re staying somewhere that feels authentically London rather than touristy.
The Neighborhood
You know what’s brilliant about this location? You’re literally two minutes from Hyde Park’s north entrance, but tucked away on a quiet residential street that most tourists never discover. I mean, Paddington Station is a five-minute walk when you need to catch the Heathrow Express, but step outside and you’re surrounded by proper London living. The area has this lovely mix of locals heading to work and dog walkers from the nearby park — it feels real, not like a hotel district.
The Accommodation
Each apartment here is genuinely different, which you don’t often get with boutique properties. Mine had this gorgeous bay window overlooking the garden square, and honestly, the space felt more like a luxury London flat than a hotel room. The kitchen wasn’t just for show either — proper appliances, quality cookware, the works. You could actually live here for a week and feel completely at home, which I suppose is the whole point of the maisonette concept.
Amenities and Service
There’s no massive lobby or bustling restaurant scene here, but that’s not what this place is about. The staff know your name by day two, and they’ve got this knack for anticipating what you need without hovering. Parking in London is always a nightmare, but they’ve sorted that with secure spaces — though honestly, with Lancaster Gate tube station so close, you probably won’t need a car anyway. The little touches matter more here: proper coffee beans in your apartment, luxury toiletries that don’t run out after one shower.
Why Guests Love It
This isn’t the kind of place where you’ll find a massive spa or grand ballroom, but if you want to experience London like you actually live here — while still having five-star service and luxury finishes — it’s pretty much perfect. I’ve stayed in plenty of London hotels where you feel like you’re in a bubble, but Maisonette Hyde Park gets the balance right between luxury and authenticity. Plus, there’s something quite special about having your morning coffee while looking out at a proper London garden square, knowing Hyde Park is just around the corner but feeling like you’ve discovered a secret that most visitors never find.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
