First Impressions
Walking up to LX Russell Square Apartments on Guilford Street, you immediately get that feeling of stumbling onto something special in London. The building has this lovely Georgian character that just fits perfectly with Bloomsbury’s vibe — you know, that sort of intellectual, literary atmosphere that makes this corner of Camden feel different from the rest of the city. It’s clearly a four-star property, but there’s nothing flashy or over-the-top about it, which honestly feels refreshing.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally surrounded by some of London’s best bits without dealing with the tourist chaos. Russell Square is right there (hence the name), and that garden square is genuinely one of my favorite places to grab a coffee and just sit for a bit. The British Museum is maybe a seven-minute walk, but more importantly, you’ve got those brilliant little cafes and bookshops scattered around that most visitors never find. Plus, Russell Square tube station means you can get anywhere in London without the hassle.
The Living Space
What really sets this place apart is that you’re staying in an actual apartment, not just a hotel room. Each unit has a proper kitchenette — and I mean properly equipped, not just a mini-fridge and kettle situation. There’s something really nice about being able to make your morning coffee exactly how you like it, or picking up some bits from the nearby Waitrose and having a proper meal. The spaces feel genuinely lived-in rather than sterile, with decent-sized windows that actually let in light.
Daily Comforts
The staff here seem to understand that people are staying for more than just a night or two — they’re helpful without being intrusive, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to settle in somewhere. There’s a nice balance between hotel service and apartment independence. The building stays quiet (important when you’re right in central London), and everything just works the way it should. They’ve clearly put thought into the practical stuff that matters when you’re actually living somewhere, even temporarily.
Why Guests Love It
Look, if you want flashy amenities and a grand lobby, this probably isn’t your place. But if you’re after something that feels more like having a proper London base — somewhere you can spread out, explore one of the city’s most interesting neighborhoods, and still have all the conveniences — then this really delivers. That 8.8 rating makes perfect sense when you experience how everything just fits together. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself planning your next London trip around whether you can book the same spot again.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
