Overview
First Impressions
Elegant 1 Bedroom flat near Harrods sits in one of those classic red-brick mansion blocks that make London feel properly London-ish. Nell Gwynn House has that solid, old-school Kensington presence — you know, the kind of building where you half-expect to bump into someone important in the lift. The four-star apartment feels like you’re staying at a well-heeled friend’s place rather than some sterile hotel setup.
The Space
What I actually loved about this place is how it doesn’t try too hard to be trendy. The room layout makes sense — there’s a proper bedroom that’s separate from the living area, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night or two. The kitchen is compact but functional, with everything you’d need if you fancy making coffee in the morning or storing those fancy Harrods treats you’ll inevitably buy. The whole space feels lived-in rather than show-home perfect, which I mean in the best possible way.
Location Magic
Here’s the thing about staying on Sloane Avenue — you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Harrods, but you’re also perfectly positioned for South Kensington’s museums and Hyde Park. I found myself popping out for groceries at the little Waitrose nearby, then wandering through the park back to the flat. The area has that village-y feel that locals bang on about, where you actually see the same faces at the coffee shops and everyone seems to know their neighbors.
Neighborhood Life
The Royal Court Theatre is just around the corner if you’re into proper London theatre (not the tourist stuff in the West End), and honestly, the pub scene here is brilliant. You’ve got the classic gastropubs mixed with those tiny wine bars that only locals seem to know about. Parking is typical London nightmare stuff, so I’d skip the car entirely — the transport links from South Kensington station get you anywhere you need to be.
Why Guests Love It
What sets this place apart is that authentic residential feel — you’re staying in a proper London neighborhood rather than some hotel district. The flat’s got that comfortable, unfussy vibe that makes you feel settled within hours of arriving. Plus, having Harrods as your local shop (even if you’re just window shopping) never gets old, and the 8.8 rating reflects what most people discover: it’s not flashy, but it absolutely delivers on being a genuine London base.

"Superb"
Valentina is overall a great host. Her apartment is in a fantastic location in Chelsea, and very close walk to bus stops and Sloane South Kensington Underground station. It's just a pleasant part of town. This apartment itself being situated within Nell Gwynn House, has a great historic vibe.
The apartment was very comfortable and perfect for a couple looking for a getaway in London. Valentina has provided all the essentials being comfy bed, great TV, great shower pressure and a good little kitchen including a perfect laundry machine (wash and dry unit).
What could be improved: Nothing major to comment here, other than I would NOT recommend this apartment for summer time as it does not have Air Con. We were staying in early September (avg day temps 16-21C) and still needed the floor fan switched on all night with windows open to be comfortable sleeping. If you're planning to stay during the middle of summer, I would imagine it to get incredibly warm inside the apartment as the insulation inside the building seemed to be "too good" (at least for us...). This apartment seems like it would be perfect for September through May periods of Autumn, Winter and Spring in London.

"Beautiful and convenient flat"
Lovely little flat, it had everything we needed and was in a great location to get about. Very clean and comfortable!
What could be improved: The flat was absolutely boiling even though the weather was not too hot outside. There were fans but maybe could have had one more in the livingroom as a thought.

"Geat location in Chelsea. Not well suited for tall people"
Great location, hosts very responsive and accommodating, kitchen had many essentials such as coffee, tea and such
What could be improved: Bed VERY small and no A/C in the unit. We found it difficult to get a good night sleep as we hardly fit in the bed and the heat in London was stifling
