Luxury Three bed Apartment by London ExCeL sits right in the heart of Newham’s rapidly evolving Docklands area, and honestly, the location surprised me. When I first pulled up to 14 Western Gateway, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a typical residential building — but this four-star apartment completely changed my perspective on staying in East London.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I love about this spot: you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from ExCeL London, which means if you’re attending an event there, you can actually sleep in. The Royal Victoria DLR station is close enough that getting into central London takes about 20 minutes, and you know what? The journey along the DLR gives you some pretty decent views of Canary Wharf. Plus, there’s decent parking around here if you’re driving — something that’s worth its weight in gold in London.

The Space Itself

This three-bedroom setup works brilliantly for families or groups traveling together. Each room feels properly sized — not like those cramped hotel rooms where you’re bumping into each other constantly. The kitchen is actually functional too, with real appliances and enough counter space to prepare meals if you want to save money on eating out every night. I mean, London restaurant prices can add up quickly, so having the option to cook is genuinely useful.

Practical Details

The apartment feels well-maintained and modern, though it’s not trying to be fancy in that over-the-top way some places do. Everything works properly — the Wi-Fi is solid, the heating responds when you adjust it, and the shower has decent pressure. These might sound like small things, but they’re the details that make or break a stay when you’re jet-lagged and just want things to function normally.

Why Guests Love It

Look, if you’re planning to spend most of your time in Zone 1 doing typical tourist stuff, this might not be your best bet. But if you’re attending events at ExCeL, working in Canary Wharf, or just want more space than a typical London hotel room offers, this place makes a lot of sense. We had absolutely no problems with our stay everything was as advertised. Very close to London Excel. I would recommend it to everyone.

"Fantastic stay at a great apartment"
The apartment was lovely very warm and comfortable. It had fantastic 360 views and was a 2 minute walk to excel.
What could be improved: Not much to improve maybe a couple of small maintenance issues - en suite door didnt lock and shower screen comes off runners. Leather on sofa was damaged a bit.

"Exceptional"
Wonderful apartment in a fantastic area. It has a very unique balcony with Exceptional View. The host was a Great Host and communication was great. The apartment was just as pictured. It's super clean and furnished. Overall My Family and I enjoyed our stay. We will definitely visit again.

"Great apartment close to city links."
The property was great, well equipped, and clean. It’s in a brilliant location, with a short walk to the Excel centre, the DLR and Elizabeth Line. There are also a number of restaurants and shops nearby, which was super handy.
What could be improved: It was slightly lived in. The curtain runners were broken in places, which was a slight issue on sunny days. The en-suite lock didn’t work. This did not impact our stay in a significant way at all.

"Terrific location, brilliant service, comfortable and well-equipped accommodation"
This apartment is absolutely perfectly located if you're going to Comic Con at the Excel. For a break during mid-afternoon overwhelm or quick cosplay changes, it's so handy to just nip back during the day and you can still enjoy the vibes just by sitting on the balcony from where you can see and hear all the outside activity. The welcome was so friendly and helpful (there's a cat in the office!) and the comms were regular and detailed.

"Lovely Apartment in East London"
- The apartment is comfortable, nicely furnished and exactly same as the pictures. The terrace has a nice view over ExCel Exhibition Centre. - They provided hand soap, liquid handwash, toilet rolls, dishwashing liquid, dishwasher tablets, washing machine pods, garbage bags, salt & pepper, tea and milk pods. - There is a Tesco express and some restaurants nearby. - The apartment is near Custom House station which has the Elizabeth Line (Direct access to Bond street and Heathrow as well). You can also take the cable car to Greenwich. - I would recommend this apartment to family and friends.
What could be improved: - There is an all-in-one washer dryer machine so the drying option is not that great, but a drying rack is provided so it's fine. - No cleaning service is provided throughout the stay period, but cleaning equipments are provided such as vacuum cleaner, broom, etc. - Bathroom doors can't be locked. - The area can get busy when there is a convention or event at ExCel which makes getting to and leaving the area via public transport or Uber a bit exhausting.
