Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Luxury mezzanine apartment in Kensington / Earls Court Garden Square, you’re immediately struck by how quiet Nevern Square feels despite being right in the heart of London. The garden square setup is honestly one of those things that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into a hidden corner of the city — white Victorian buildings forming a neat rectangle around a private garden that only residents can access.
The Space Itself
This three-star apartment really lives up to the mezzanine part of its name. The layout is clever — you’ve got this raised sleeping area that feels separate from the main living space without actually having full walls everywhere. It’s sort of like having a studio that doesn’t feel cramped, which is no small feat in London. The kitchen area is compact but functional, and I mean, if you’re staying here you’re probably not planning elaborate dinner parties anyway.
Location Benefits
Here’s what I actually love about this spot — you’re walking distance to both South Kensington’s museum district and the more relaxed vibe of Earl’s Court. The Natural History Museum is maybe fifteen minutes on foot, but you can also duck into one of the local pubs on Earl’s Court Road when you want something less touristy. The Gloucester Road tube station is close enough that you don’t think twice about hopping on the Piccadilly line.
Practical Considerations
The building itself has that classic London character — high ceilings, original features, but also the quirks that come with Victorian architecture. You know what I mean — sometimes the shower pressure isn’t amazing, and the windows might be single-glazed. But there’s something charming about staying somewhere that feels authentically London rather than a generic hotel room. The garden square access is actually a nice touch if you need a quiet moment outdoors.
Why Guests Love It
What really works here is the combination of space and location without the premium you’d pay for a fancy hotel in Kensington proper. You get your own place to spread out, make morning coffee, and feel less like a tourist rushing between attractions. The mezzanine setup gives you that sense of having separate areas even in a relatively compact space — perfect for couples or solo travelers who don’t want to feel boxed in.

"Perfect location, very clean mezzanine appt"
Perfect location, mezzanine appt was very clean, soft fluffy towels and fully equipped. Very spacious, light and airy. Great views over the park and quiet. Safe 5 min walk from Earl’s Court tube st.
What could be improved: The roof level of the mezzanine was very low, approx 4ft6!
Could do with a bit of an update but for the price, can’t complain.

Easily accessible by public transport. Close to shops. So great to have a kitchen and more space during our holiday. Lovely location overlooking the park.

"The presentation of the accommodation was good but the sleeping arrangements were awful."
The proximity to the tube station was excellent and the hotel was set in a delightful London square with a private garden in the centre
What could be improved: The Mezzanine ceiling is very low and it was very awkward. A cool fan had been provided but the temperature at the mezzanine level was very uncomfortable even though we had a door/window open downstairs as well. It would be absolutely awful in warm weather. Also the mattress was not comfortable.

"Pleasant"
The location is good, quite quiet and pretty well connected by bus/metro, and the space itself has so much potential.
What could be improved: Upon arrival the apartment was not clean — we found other people’s garbage in both the shower and the kitchen, the dishwasher had dirty dishes from the previous guest, hair (including a large clump) left on the floor, and the carpet in the loft area clearly hadn’t been vacuumed. It was not a welcoming start.
What made it worse was that there was never anyone available to ask for help or assistance during our stay. Reception is only open from 3:00PM to 8:00PM and we never saw anyone who seemed like they worked there. The lack of staff presence meant there was no way to address the cleanliness issues or get any support. We had sent a message the first day requesting for the room to be cleaned again the next day but we never received a response to that, despite the fact that before this they replied quite well to messages. We also had a couple instances where it seemed like the key wasn't going to work on the door and that just had me thinking about how we would deal with it if it didn't, as we hadn't seen any options for contacting someone in case of an issue....but we may have just missed that.
For the price and expectations of an aparthotel, the standard of cleanliness and service was, in our opinion, below what it should be. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend staying here which is really too bad because as mentioned the space has great potential, but the lack of cleanliness in such obvious places made us feel like they only do surface cleaning to begin with. Felt quite icky.
The bed was also firm, which we like, but for anyone who needs a soft bed I would not recommend this option.
