Lovely 2 Bedroom Flat, North LDN
First Impressions
Lovely 2 Bedroom Flat, North LDN sits on a quiet residential street in Hackney that honestly surprised me — Barrett’s Grove has this calm, tree-lined feel that you don’t always expect in North London. The building itself is a classic Victorian conversion, and while it’s not fancy, there’s something reassuring about the solid brick facade. You know what I mean — it just feels like proper London housing.
The Space Itself
This three-star flat actually delivers more space than most London accommodations I’ve stayed in. The two bedrooms are genuinely separate (not those awkward studio divisions), and the main room has decent natural light streaming through large windows. The kitchen is small but functional — I managed to cook proper meals there, which honestly saved me a fortune compared to eating out constantly in London.
Location & Getting Around
Hackney gets a bit of unfair criticism, but this particular pocket is really well-positioned. You’re about a 15-minute walk to Stoke Newington, which has some brilliant independent cafes and pubs that locals actually frequent. The nearest tube connection requires a bus ride, but the bus routes here are frequent and connect you directly to central areas — I found myself using the 149 and 243 buses constantly.
What Works (And What Doesn’t)
The flat feels lived-in rather than sterile, which I actually prefer when I’m staying somewhere for more than a couple nights. The heating works well — important during London’s unpredictable weather — and there’s decent water pressure in the shower. However, the WiFi can be a bit patchy in the back bedroom, and the walls are typical Victorian thin, so you might hear neighbors occasionally.
Why Guests Appreciate It
Look, this isn’t going to wow you with amenities or concierge service, but it does something more valuable — it gives you a genuine taste of living in London rather than just visiting. The 7.6 rating makes sense because it’s honest accommodation that delivers what it promises. You’re staying in a real neighborhood where people actually live, shop at the local Sainsbury’s, and walk their dogs in the nearby parks.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
