Laura’s modern 1 bed apartment in Wimbledon
First Impressions
Laura’s modern 1 bed apartment in Wimbledon sits right on Kingston Road, and honestly, the location surprised me in the best way. You’re technically in Merton, but you’re close enough to Wimbledon that you get the best of both worlds — quieter residential vibes without sacrificing accessibility. The building itself is unassuming from the outside, but step inside and you’ll find Laura’s created something genuinely welcoming.
The Space
This apartment feels like someone actually lives here, which I mean as the highest compliment. Laura’s clearly put thought into every detail — the furniture is modern without being stark, and there’s proper storage space (you know how rare that is in London rentals). The kitchen is compact but well-equipped, and I actually found myself cooking more than I planned because everything was so accessible. The bedroom gets decent natural light, and the bed is comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d wrestled with it all night.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what I really appreciated about staying in Merton — you’re on excellent transport links without the tourist crowds. The 57 and 131 buses run frequently along Kingston Road, and you can reach central London in about 30-40 minutes depending on where you’re headed. If you’re visiting during tennis season, Wimbledon is practically next door, but even outside of that, the area has character. There’s a Sainsbury’s Local within walking distance, plus some solid takeaway options when you can’t be bothered to cook.
The Experience
What sets this three-star place apart is Laura’s attention to guest comfort. She’s responsive without being intrusive, and the check-in process was refreshingly straightforward. The WiFi actually works properly (I had several video calls with no issues), and there are thoughtful touches like proper blackout curtains and multiple charging points. The whole setup feels residential rather than hotel-like, which meant I could settle in rather than just camping out for a few nights.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to wow you with fancy amenities, but it delivers exactly what it promises. The 9-point rating makes sense when you consider what most people actually want from accommodation — a clean, comfortable space that feels like home, in a location that doesn’t eat your entire travel budget or strand you miles from everything. Laura’s managed to create that sweet spot between affordability and genuine comfort, and honestly, that’s harder to find in London than you might think.
