London Chigwell Prince Regent Hotel, BW Signature Collection
First Impressions
The London Chigwell Prince Regent Hotel, BW Signature Collection sits on Manor Road in what’s honestly one of London’s quieter corners — and I mean that in the best possible way. This four-star property feels like you’ve discovered something locals know about but tourists haven’t quite caught onto yet. The building itself has that solid, understated British charm that doesn’t scream for attention but definitely earns your respect once you’re inside.
Location & Getting Around
Chigwell isn’t exactly central London, but that’s actually its superpower. You’re in Zone 4, which means you can still hop on the Tube and be in the heart of things within 30-40 minutes, but you get to come home to tree-lined streets and actual breathing room. The Central line runs right through here, so getting to Oxford Street or the City is straightforward enough. What I really appreciated was having proper parking — try finding that in Zone 1 without selling a kidney.
The Room Experience
My room was one of those pleasant surprises where everything just worked as it should. Nothing flashy, but the bed was properly comfortable, the shower had decent pressure, and there were enough outlets for all my devices without playing musical chairs with chargers. The décor strikes that middle ground between corporate bland and trying-too-hard trendy — think clean lines with just enough personality to feel welcoming.
Dining & Amenities
The hotel’s restaurant serves up solid British fare with a few international touches thrown in for good measure. I wouldn’t call it destination dining, but after a long day of meetings or sightseeing, it hits the spot without any fuss. The breakfast spread covers all the basics — proper bacon, decent coffee, and fresh fruit that actually tastes like fruit. There’s also a small fitness center that’s nothing fancy but has the essentials if you need to work off those full English breakfasts.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing about this place — it’s genuinely comfortable without any pretense. The staff seem to actually care about doing their jobs well rather than just going through the motions. You’re far enough from the tourist crowds to feel like you’re experiencing a slice of real London life, but close enough to everything that matters. It’s the kind of hotel where business travelers become regulars and families discover they can actually relax. The 7.6 rating makes sense once you realize this isn’t trying to be the fanciest place in town — it’s just trying to be really good at what it does.
