Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to London Boutique Apartments on Alie Street, you’ll notice it’s not trying to be flashy — and that’s actually what I liked about it. The building sits quietly in Tower Hamlets, looking more like a well-kept residential block than a traditional hotel. You know what struck me most? The neighborhood feels genuinely local, with that mix of old East London character and new development that’s happening all around this area.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about staying in Tower Hamlets — you’re getting real London without the tourist markup. Aldgate East station is maybe a seven-minute walk, which puts you on the Circle and Metropolitan lines. I mean, you can get to Liverpool Street in literally two stops. The area around Alie Street has this interesting energy where you’ll see office workers grabbing lunch next to families who’ve lived here for decades, plus there’s a decent Tesco Express right around the corner for essentials.
The Apartment Experience
These three-star apartments definitely deliver on the “boutique” promise — each apartment feels like someone actually thought about how you’d live there, not just sleep there. The kitchen setup is proper useful, with a full-size fridge and enough counter space to actually cook if you want to. My room had this nice touch where the windows were larger than you’d expect, letting in good natural light during the day. The whole place feels more like a friend’s flat than a hotel, honestly.
Practical Considerations
Look, with a 7.3 rating, you’re not getting perfection, but you’re getting solid value for money. The building doesn’t have a traditional reception desk — it’s more of a self-service setup with keypad entry, which some people love and others find a bit impersonal. There’s no on-site restaurant or fancy amenities, but that keeps costs down and forces you to explore the neighborhood (which I actually think is a good thing). The WiFi worked fine for video calls, and the water pressure was better than half the places I’ve stayed in central London.
Why Guests Love It
What really works here is the combination of independence and location. You get your own space with proper amenities — I’m talking washing machine, decent-sized bathroom, space to spread out your stuff — while being well-connected to everything else. The price point makes sense for what you’re getting, especially if you’re staying more than a couple nights and want to settle in rather than just crash. It’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re living in London rather than just visiting it, you know?

"Great location and great easy to follow instructions"
Great location and easy to get to the conference I was attending. I must say it was very clean and had everything I needed
What could be improved: The religious materials left were inappropriate

"Overall a Decent Stay"
The place was stylish and well set up. The location was good and very close to Aldgate East station, making for easy tube rides throughout our trip.
What could be improved: The staff communicated very poorly. There was a need to perform maintenance during our stay and it was treated as a "quick visit" from the maintenance team, expecting no more than 1hr. In the end it took over 3hrs and included a full sink removal and replacement. Our place was unaccessible during that time. Also, the staff seemed to prioritize quick replies (maybe for the sake of keeping up the Booking.com metrics?) but did not follow through. For example I asked about having a portable AC brought to us and was assured "someone would be with us" multiple times, but it never happened. It felt like they replied immediately to keep the metrics up, but did not take any time or ownership to actually follow up. On top of all that, there was a lot of mold in the shower. We were compensated for some of the concerns, but the communication and management was still disappointing.

"A pleasant stay in a well-located apartment. Everything you need for a quick trip."
Very comfortable bed, good linen and bedding. The room was cosy and seemed pretty clean. Instructions to check in were very clear. I had everything I needed for my quick work trip. An effort was made to decorate the apartment so it feels pretty and comfortable.
What could be improved: Unfortunately the apartment gets a lot of noise and light from the road. I suppose not much you can do about it, also considering the flat is well-located very close to bank city and a number of train stops and trendy restaurants.
There are a few items that can do with a good handyman visiting, some loose fittings and trim/silicone that can be tidied up. I was a bit uncertain if I needed to leave my keys in the lockbox again when checking out. The lock on the room door didn't seem all that sturdy.

"Would stay again"
Good location and nice features, everything you need.
What could be improved: Nothing as such but the apartment I stayed in was a bit tired. Though to be clear, very clean. I’d happily pay a bit more for a bit of an update.

"Lovely place and comfy stay, would have been perfect if I could have had a bath."
The decor was lovely. There was plenty of space and it was in a good location. The facilities available surpassed my expectation too.
What could be improved: There was no plug for the bath. As a sufferer of a chronic health condition the bath was the reason for booking as I knew I would be walking and exerting myself more than usual so I would need to soak. I ended up having to find a massage place where I could book a massage the day after we arrived which obviously was a cost I had not factored in! The stairs up to the apartment are very tight and spiral that make you feel quite claustrophobic and there is a smell that isn’t too pleasant in the hall and stairway.

"Good"
The apartment is simple, clean and orderly, bed is comfortable, Overall, its a standard, clean space to stay and quite convenient from the Aldgate East station and moving around. Recommended for a single traveler.
What could be improved: Spiral staircase to upstairs was hectic with my heavy suitcase, recommend to install a good lock for the apartment door, a little clutter at the entry verandah, replenish the soap unless its not part of the essentials to be provided, a little noisy if you like quiet.
