Cambric by Aeria Apartments
First Impressions
Cambric by Aeria Apartments sits on a quiet side street in Spitalfields, and honestly, you’d walk right past it if you weren’t looking. The building itself is this lovely converted Victorian warehouse — all red brick and industrial windows — that somehow manages to feel both historic and completely modern. I mean, this is Tower Hamlets at its best, where old London character meets contemporary living without trying too hard.
The Neighborhood Feel
What I love about staying here is that you’re actually in a proper London neighborhood, not some touristy bubble. Brick Lane’s famous curry houses are literally around the corner, and you know what? The smell of spices drifting through the streets in the evening is something you just can’t get in a chain hotel. Spitalfields Market is a two-minute walk — perfect for weekend browsing or grabbing coffee from vendors who actually remember your order.
The Apartment Experience
Each apartment in this four-star property feels more like borrowing a friend’s really nice place than staying in a hotel. The room I had was spacious by London standards (which, let’s be honest, isn’t saying much), but the high ceilings and original brick walls made it feel genuinely airy. The kitchen is fully equipped — not just a mini-fridge and kettle situation — so you can actually cook if you want to save money or just fancy making proper tea.
Local Connections
The staff here gets it — they’re not just handing out generic tourist maps. When I asked about good pubs, they sent me to The Ten Bells (where Jack the Ripper’s victims allegedly drank, if you’re into that sort of history), but also to this brilliant little wine bar on Commercial Street that I never would’ve found otherwise. There’s no restaurant on-site, but honestly, with all the incredible food options within walking distance, you don’t need one.
Why Guests Love It
Look, if you want marble lobbies and doormen in top hats, this isn’t your place. But if you want to feel like you’re actually living in London for a few days — waking up in a neighborhood where people actually work and live, not just snap photos — then Cambric gets it right. The combination of character (those exposed beams aren’t fake), comfort (proper heating and excellent wifi), and location (Shoreditch nightlife, City offices, and East End markets all walkable) makes it one of those places you’ll actually remember fondly. Plus, there’s parking available if you’re brave enough to drive in London, though I’d honestly recommend just using the excellent transport links instead.
Apartments in London suit families with bright bay windows, full kitchens, and sunset loops through Hyde Park paths.
