Leonardo Royal London St Paul’s
First Impressions
Walking up to Leonardo Royal London St Paul’s on Godliman Street, you immediately notice how it manages to feel both contemporary and perfectly at home in the City of London. The building has this sleek glass facade that somehow doesn’t clash with the historic surroundings — I mean, you’re literally a stone’s throw from St Paul’s Cathedral. The lobby strikes that sweet spot between professional and welcoming, which makes sense given how many business travelers end up here during the week.
Location and Neighborhood
Honestly, the location is what really sold me on this place. You’re right in the heart of the financial district, but here’s the thing — weekends are surprisingly quiet around here, which gives you this almost secret London experience. The Millennium Bridge is about a three-minute walk, and crossing it to reach Tate Modern or Borough Market becomes part of your daily routine. St Paul’s tube station is practically next door, and you know what? Walking to places like Covent Garden or even the South Bank is totally doable when the weather’s decent.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was one of their standard doubles, and while it wasn’t huge, everything felt well thought out. The bed was actually comfortable — not always a given with hotel beds — and the blackout curtains work properly, which matters more than you’d think in a city that stays bright late into summer evenings. The bathroom was modern with a decent shower, though I’ll be honest, the water pressure could’ve been stronger. What I really appreciated was the workspace setup; the desk actually had enough surface area to spread out a laptop and some papers.
Dining and Amenities
The restaurant downstairs serves solid British and international dishes, nothing groundbreaking but definitely reliable. Breakfast is the usual hotel spread — hot items, pastries, coffee that’s better than average. The fitness center is small but has the basics covered if you need to squeeze in a workout. There’s also a business center that’s open 24/7, which came in handy when I needed to print boarding passes at an odd hour.
Why Guests Love It
This four-star hotel really delivers on being a dependable base for exploring London, especially if you’re mixing business with pleasure or want to stay somewhere central without the chaos of tourist-heavy areas like Oxford Street. The staff genuinely seem to know their stuff about getting around the city, and the parking situation (while pricey, as expected in central London) is at least straightforward. It’s the kind of place where everything works as it should — the WiFi is fast, the air conditioning responds properly, and checkout doesn’t involve any surprises on the bill.
