Overview
First Impressions
You know what caught me off guard about Large Luxury Studio in Heart of Richmond? The name’s a bit misleading — this three-star place isn’t actually luxurious in the traditional sense, but it’s got something better: genuine character. Tucked away on Hill Street, it feels more like staying in a well-appointed friend’s place than a standard hotel. The building itself has that classic Richmond charm, and honestly, the location does most of the heavy lifting here.
Location & Neighborhood
I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Richmond, which is something special if you’ve never explored this part of London properly. Hill Street is one of those quiet residential roads that locals actually use — not some tourist trap. You can walk to Richmond Green in about three minutes, and the Thames is just a short stroll away. The high street with all its shops and cafes is right there, but you’re tucked away enough that you won’t hear the weekend crowds stumbling around at night.
The Studio Setup
The room is genuinely spacious for London standards, and the studio layout actually works well. There’s a proper kitchenette (not just a kettle and mini-fridge situation) where you can make real meals if you want to save money or just prefer eating in. The furnishing is clean and functional — nothing fancy, but everything you need is there. I appreciated having enough space to properly unpack, which you don’t always get even in pricier London hotels.
Practical Details
The 7.4 rating makes sense once you spend a night here — it’s solid without being spectacular. Parking can be tricky since you’re on a residential street, but there are options nearby if you’re driving. The Wi-Fi actually works properly (always a relief), and the shower has decent water pressure. Small things, but they matter when you’re settling in for more than just a quick overnight stay.
Why Guests Love It
What really works about this place is the combination of space, location, and that residential feel. You’re not staying in some anonymous hotel corridor — you’re basically living like a Richmond local for a few days. The kitchenette means you can grab groceries from the high street and have breakfast overlooking the street scene. For the price point and the neighborhood, it’s actually quite a find, especially if you prefer having your own space over hotel services you probably won’t use anyway.

"Very spacious apartment in the center of Richmond, well equipped."
Spacious for the center of Richmond, nice big bathroom with bath. Well equipped kitchen
What could be improved: Wardrobe did not open, limited hanging space for clothes. It was very hot during our stay, there was plenty of fans but with the windows open it was very noisy. This is not the fault of the property, but other visitors should beware

"Enjoyable stay"
Located in the high street Richmond
Close to tube/train station
Spacious and well equiped flat
What could be improved: Some furniture eg: plastic ornamental plants and their plant base vases, plant base vases above the bed and unused carpet above the book rack are dusty

"lovely little aprtment. I would recommend."
Location great. Cosy and had all the required items for a comfortable stay.
What could be improved: Somewhat NOISY however as there is some issue with the door buzzer thing going off randomly and a lot overnight whenever it rained/thunderstrom. Not sure what that was about. Also would have liked to have a top sheet on the bed, not just a duvet
I could never work out the TV. Instructions for that would have been helpful in the instruction book.
Lamp in the lounge room did not work at all. It isnt the globe as I put the new one in, and still didnt work, (noth the one at desk, but the other one).
Also very difficult to open the windows and desperately needed the fresh air, as was very stuffy without them open. Once I worked it out it was good.

"Despite all the downside, we have a good time in Richmond."
Location close to railway station and the river. Many restaurants nearby.
What could be improved: A bit old. On arrival, the lockbox was stuck and took an hour or so to sort out. No lifts. A hassle to bring heavy suitcases up a narrow staircase to the 2/F apartment. WiFi in the apartment didn’t work. A bit noisy as it faces a main road with busy traffic.

"Good"
Location and the apartment was really nice
What could be improved: I would rate this high but the only down factor was that I had booked for 3pm but the room was not ready until 5pm

Location
What could be improved: Clean but not spotless. Felt like it needed a good deep clean.

"Perfect trip to Richmond Upon Thames. 😀"
Great position and central for what we wanted. Close to Scott’s and White Cross which we love.
What could be improved: A couple of things that really aren’t worth mentioning and didn’t spoil our stay.

"Gorgeous luxury bijou comfort"
It looks far larger and more substantial in the flesh. The whole studio is fitted to a very high standard, great intergrated kitchen of a very high spec that offered all you required. Though a heads up that the fridge freezer requires switching on at the far wall would be helpful if your jet lagged it arriving late, it simply didn’t occur to me the fridge would be off & took about 4hrs to eventually get to freezing level. A working intercom would be useful too. Not sure if it’s a temporary thing or a deliberate thing. I have a spinal injury so going up and down stairs was a bit of an issue m, but not enough that it was a problem. Also make sure your Deliveroo pin is correct, as the first delivery came up as no 48 instead 16-17, so I changed it manually. So double check before u place deliveries. Other than that, the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in, good linen & memory foam pillows, so a delight! Bathroom was lovely too & shower & bath worked in multiple ways, so v flexible. The views from the living area were a great people watching spot & you could see down to the river. The noise was fine & slept most nights with the windows open. But with the windows closed & the blinds down it really blocked everything out. One of the only places I’ve stayed where the reality was better than the pictures. Also the host was very quick to get in touch with any queries & were very friendly, polite & professional. Couldn’t fault. Will definitely be back.
What could be improved: That I couldn’t have stayed longer 🥲
