Hyde London City – St Paul’s
First Impressions
Hyde London City – St Paul’s sits right on Old Bailey — yes, that Old Bailey where all the famous trials happen. Walking up to this four-star hotel, you’re literally steps from the courthouse that’s been making headlines for centuries. The building itself has this sleek, modern glass facade that honestly feels a bit like stepping into the future after wandering through all those medieval London streets.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what struck me most? You can see St Paul’s Cathedral from some of the upper floors — I mean, it’s practically next door. The City of London gets pretty quiet after business hours, which some people love and others find a bit too peaceful. But here’s the thing: you’re a five-minute walk from Millennium Bridge, and crossing that at sunset with the Thames below is something special.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was on the smaller side — this is London, after all — but everything felt thoughtfully designed. Floor-to-ceiling windows let in tons of natural light, and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually works properly. The bed was comfortable, though I wish there were more power outlets near it. Small complaint, really, but you notice these things when you’re trying to charge your phone and camera at the same time.
Dining & Amenities
The ground-floor restaurant serves modern British fare that’s actually pretty good — not just hotel food, if you know what I mean. Their full English breakfast is solid, though it’s not included in most rates. There’s also a compact fitness center that gets the job done, and the staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood well. They pointed me toward a great pub just around the corner that I never would’ve found otherwise.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the fanciest hotel in London, but it delivers where it counts. The location is unbeatable if you want to explore historic London on foot — you’re walking distance from the Thames, Borough Market, and the legal district that’s been operating for centuries. The staff actually cares about your experience, and there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels connected to the real working heart of the city rather than just the tourist bits.
Apartments in London suit families with bright bay windows, full kitchens, and sunset loops through Hyde Park paths.
