1988 Homes – Greenwich
First Impressions
1988 Homes – Greenwich sits tucked away in Sailacre House, one of those modern apartment buildings that you’d probably walk past without a second glance. But honestly, that’s part of its charm — it’s not trying to be flashy or attention-grabbing. The building feels solid and well-maintained, and when you step into Flat 6, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually put thought into making this place feel like home rather than just another rental property.
The Space
The apartment itself is what I’d call thoughtfully designed without being overly precious about it. You’ve got a proper kitchen that’s actually functional — not one of those hotel kitchenettes where you can barely boil water. I mean, you could genuinely cook a decent meal here if you wanted to skip the restaurants for a night. The living area flows naturally into the sleeping space, and there’s enough room to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped, which is saying something for London.
Greenwich Neighborhood
What really sold me on this place is the location in Greenwich itself. You’re about a ten-minute walk to the Cutty Sark and the National Maritime Museum, but more importantly, you’re right in the thick of actual London life. There’s a Tesco Express practically around the corner, and the Greenwich Market is close enough that you’ll probably end up there for weekend browsing whether you planned to or not. The DLR station isn’t far either, so getting into central London is straightforward.
Daily Experience
This four-star setup works particularly well if you’re staying for more than just a couple nights. You can actually settle in here — there’s proper storage space, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and the neighbors seem to be a mix of long-term residents and other travelers, so it stays reasonably quiet. The building has secure entry, and there’s parking available if you’re brave enough to drive in London (though honestly, you probably won’t need a car with the transport links).
Why Guests Love It
What strikes me most about 1988 Homes – Greenwich is that it gets the balance right between being a proper London base and not breaking the bank. You’re not paying premium rates for a fancy hotel lobby you’ll barely use, but you’re also not stuck in some dodgy hostel situation. It’s the kind of place where you can bring back groceries from Borough Market and actually enjoy them properly, or just collapse after a long day of museum-hopping without feeling like you’re camping out. The whole experience feels more like borrowing a friend’s flat than staying in tourist accommodation — which, after dealing with London’s hotel prices, is exactly what you want.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
