Overview
First Impressions
Happy Homestay London caught me completely off guard — and I mean that in the best possible way. Tucked away in a converted Victorian building in Lambeth, this apartment-style accommodation feels more like staying at a design-savvy friend’s place than a typical hotel. The moment you walk into Rudhall House, you realize you’ve stumbled onto something special that doesn’t fit into neat categories.
The Space
What makes this place work is how they’ve managed to create individual spaces that actually feel like home. Each unit comes with its own kitchen, which honestly saved me a fortune on London dining — you know how expensive eating out gets in this city. The rooms strike this perfect balance between boutique hotel polish and genuine comfort, with thoughtful touches like proper coffee makers and enough counter space to actually use that kitchen.
Location & Neighborhood
London can feel overwhelming, but Lambeth puts you right in the sweet spot between tourist central and real London life. You’re walking distance to the South Bank — I’d grab coffee and stroll along the Thames most mornings — but far enough from the crowds that you can actually breathe. The Tube connections are solid too, though I found myself walking more than expected because the neighborhood itself is genuinely interesting to explore.
What Sets It Apart
Here’s the thing about Happy Homestay London — it operates as this unique boutique hotel without official star rating, which actually works in its favor. They’re not trying to be everything to everyone, just really good at what they do. The staff knows your name after one day, and they’ll give you the kind of local recommendations that actually pan out. I still go to a pub they suggested, and it’s become one of my London favorites.
Why Guests Love It
You get the independence of having your own space with the backup of hotel-style service when you need it. It’s perfect for longer stays — I was there for a week and never felt cramped or tired of the space. Plus, there’s something refreshing about a place that’s more focused on getting the fundamentals right than checking boxes for amenities you probably won’t use anyway.
To book a hotel in London during opera season, visitors plan ahead to balance Royal Opera House nights with quiet Regent’s Canal strolls.

"Exceptional"
Denisa was such a wonderful host! My flight was delayed and I arrived much later than expected, but she kept in touch the whole time and guided me through the check-in process.
The room was super cozy, clean, and comfortable. I slept really well during my stay. The shared bathroom is small but spotless and very well maintained.
The neighborhood is peaceful, with a school and a park nearby, plus a supermarket within walking distance. There’s also a bus stop right outside that goes straight to the city center.
I had a really happy and comfortable stay here. Denisa and her husband were so thoughtful — they even gave me directions to the airport when I checked out. Totally recommend this place!

"The kitchen i loved 😍!"
The kitchen facilities were just unreal, gas stove, microwave, everything and next to your room to so good, the owner i take my hat of to and the shower and wifi perfect , room great to , comfortable 😀! I would stay again 😀! Location is ok, out of London a little as i knew, but public transport is very close once you work it out so not a huge issue , can get into central London on bus or tube, tube a little walk to get it but pretty good for me, bus i love!
What could be improved: It's not a complaint but I always say things so others get to no when they book! Did have an issue with TV, no remote and I tried to get it going with buttons itself directly on tv, , but im in London not for TV I no! But in evenings nice to listen to something in background! Im sure the owner will fix this before the next guests come thru ! Also the room could do with a fan to plug into the wall it was humid as its normal for London i think, some bnb do have fans , make big improvement for an already cool place to stay ! As i say, id go back tho !!!
