Hampton By Hilton London Docklands
First Impressions
Hampton By Hilton London Docklands sits right where you’d expect a solid business hotel to be — tucked into the developing Docklands area with that unmistakable Hampton green signage. I’ll be honest, from the outside it looks pretty standard, but that’s sort of the point with these places. The lobby feels fresh and modern, with that clean American hotel chain aesthetic that actually works quite well in this part of London.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about staying in Docklands — you’re not exactly in central London, but the transport links are actually better than you might think. The nearest DLR station is about a 10-minute walk, which gets you to Canary Wharf in minutes and Bank in about 20. I mean, it’s not Covent Garden on your doorstep, but if you’re here for business or want to save some money while still being well-connected, it makes sense.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what I expected from a three-star Hampton — clean, functional, and surprisingly comfortable. The bed was genuinely good (they use those signature Hampton beds), and there’s decent space to spread out your stuff. You know what I appreciated? The blackout curtains actually work, which isn’t always a given in London hotels. The bathroom’s compact but well-designed, with a proper shower that has decent pressure.
Amenities & Practical Stuff
The complimentary breakfast is honestly one of the better chain hotel offerings I’ve had in London. It’s not fancy, but there’s hot food, decent coffee, and enough variety to get you going for the day. There’s a small fitness center that does the job if you need to work out, and the free Wi-Fi is reliable throughout the building. Parking is available but you’ll pay extra for it — though that’s pretty standard for any London hotel these days.
Why Guests Love It
What really works about this place is the reliability factor. It delivers exactly what it promises without any surprises — good or bad. The staff are helpful without being overly chatty, the rooms are consistently clean, and everything just works as it should. For business travelers or families who want a decent base without paying West End prices, it hits that sweet spot. Plus, being part of the Hilton family means you know what you’re getting into, and their loyalty program actually adds value if you travel regularly.
