Gorgeous house in heart of Notting Hill
First Impressions
The Gorgeous house in heart of Notting Hill honestly lives up to its name — and I don’t say that lightly. When you first walk up to this four-star property, you’re greeted by one of those classic white Victorian townhouses that make London feel so cinematic. It’s tucked away on a quiet residential street, which means you get all the charm of Notting Hill without the constant tourist buzz right outside your door.
The Heart of West London
You know what struck me most about staying here? The location actually feels like you’re living in a proper London neighborhood rather than just visiting one. Portobello Road is literally a three-minute walk away — and I mean the good bit with all the antique shops and that weekend market everyone talks about. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize: the best cafés and pubs are scattered along the quieter streets nearby, places where you’ll bump into locals walking their dogs rather than crowds following guidebooks.
Inside the House
Each room feels different — this isn’t your cookie-cutter hotel experience. I stayed in what felt like a converted Victorian bedroom, complete with high ceilings and those gorgeous tall windows that flood everything with natural light. The décor walks that fine line between period charm and modern comfort, with original features like crown molding paired with contemporary furnishings that actually make sense. The en-suite bathroom was compact but well-designed, with a proper shower that had decent water pressure (honestly, you never know in these old London buildings).
Neighborhood Life
What I loved was how easy it became to slip into a routine here. There’s a brilliant little café called Gail’s about two streets over where I’d grab coffee most mornings, and the Ladbroke Arms pub became my go-to spot for a proper Sunday roast. The whole area has this village-y feel despite being Zone 2 London — you’ll see the same faces at the corner shop, kids heading to school, that sort of thing. Notting Hill Gate tube station is about an eight-minute walk, which puts you on the Central, Circle, and District lines.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. You’re staying in what feels like a friend’s beautifully maintained Victorian house rather than a flashy hotel, and that creates a completely different kind of London experience. The staff clearly know the area well — they pointed me toward a fantastic Indian restaurant on Westbourne Grove that I never would’ve found otherwise. With an 8.6 rating, it’s clear other travelers appreciate this authentic approach too. If you want to experience London like you actually live here, rather than just passing through, this is exactly the kind of place that makes that possible.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
