Goodge Street Apartments
First Impressions
Goodge Street Apartments sits on a quiet side street that honestly feels like a hidden corner of Fitzrovia — you know, the kind of spot where locals actually live rather than just tourists passing through. The building itself has that classic London townhouse charm, and while it’s a three-star property, the location more than makes up for any frills you might be missing elsewhere. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Goodge Street tube station, which connects you to pretty much everywhere you’d want to go in London.
The Neighborhood Advantage
What really got me about this area is how genuinely central it is without feeling touristy. Charlotte Place is tucked between the BBC Broadcasting House and the British Museum — you can actually walk to both in under ten minutes. The street itself is lined with those beautiful Georgian buildings, and there’s something satisfying about staying somewhere that feels residential. You’ll find proper coffee shops nearby (not just chains), and the little Pret around the corner became my daily habit.
The Apartment Experience
Each apartment here is basically a self-contained unit, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re staying more than a couple nights. My room had a small but perfectly functional kitchenette — nothing fancy, but you can make coffee in the morning and store groceries if you want. The space felt more like borrowing someone’s flat than staying in a hotel, which I actually preferred. The furnishing is simple but clean, and the Wi-Fi worked reliably (always a concern in these older London buildings).
Practical Matters
Look, this isn’t the kind of place with a concierge or room service, but that’s sort of the point. There’s no restaurant on-site, but you’re in Fitzrovia — some of London’s best eating is literally on your doorstep. Percy Street has amazing options, and you can walk to Charlotte Street’s restaurant scene in three minutes. The staff is helpful when you need them, but they’re not hovering around. Parking is typical London street parking (expensive and tricky), so honestly, just take the tube.
Why Guests Love It
The real appeal here is location and value — you’re staying in one of London’s most connected neighborhoods without paying West End hotel prices. I watched people walk past with their shopping from Oxford Street (five minutes away), while I could slip back to my own little space and actually relax. The apartments give you that independence you sometimes crave, especially if you’re staying several days or traveling for work. It’s not glamorous, but it’s smart — and in London, being this close to everything while having your own space is actually pretty special.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
