Overview
First Impressions
Hameway House- Stunning 4 bedroom house with a spacious kitchen caught me off guard in the best way possible. You know what I wasn’t expecting in London? To find this proper house — not some cramped hotel room — tucked away on a quiet residential street in Newham. Walking up to number 58 Hameway, I actually had to double-check my booking because it felt more like I was visiting friends than checking into accommodation.
The Space That Changes Everything
Here’s the thing about this place — the kitchen alone is bigger than most London hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. I mean, you’ve got proper counter space, full-sized appliances, and enough room for four people to cook without bumping into each other. The whole house just breathes differently than your typical city stay. Four bedrooms spread across the property means you’re not fighting over bathroom time in the morning, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re traveling with family or friends.
Location Reality Check
Newham isn’t going to win any tourist board awards, but that’s actually what I liked about it. You’re living where real Londoners live — there’s a proper Tesco down the road, the bus connections are solid, and you can get to Central London without the drama. The Tube ride into the city takes about 20 minutes, and you’ll save a fortune compared to staying in Zone 1. Plus, there’s parking here, which if you’ve ever tried to park in central London, you’ll know is basically a miracle.
Why It Actually Works
This unique boutique hotel without official star rating thing might sound sketchy, but it just means they’re doing their own thing rather than ticking corporate boxes. The house feels lived-in but well-maintained — there are thoughtful touches like proper blackout curtains and decent WiFi throughout. What really sold me was having a proper dining table where we could spread out maps, plan our days, and actually eat breakfast like humans instead of perched on a hotel bed.
Why Guests Love It
Look, if you want a doorman and room service, this isn’t your place. But if you want to feel like you’ve got a proper base in London — somewhere you can cook a meal, spread out your stuff, and not feel like you’re living out of a suitcase — then Hameway House makes perfect sense. The 8.8 rating reflects exactly what you get: a solid, spacious place that does the fundamentals really well without any unnecessary frills.

"Comfortable (ideal) house for a large group. Clean, tidy, comfortable."
Comfortable (ideal) house for a large group. Clean, tidy, comfortable bedrooms. Beautiful kitchen and dining room. Accessible terrace. A washing machine, oven and microwave were available.
What could be improved: A washing machine, oven and microwave were available but the dishwasher was broken (I think it's temporary).

"Great Family Birthday"
We were there for a family birthday.
The access instructions were clear and the property was very clean.
The decor was lovely and very comfortable.
We loved the kitchen, especially! We spent 90% of our stay there.
We had a great time.
What could be improved: The dishwasher and the under counter fridge are both out of order.
The bath in the family bathroom leaked water all over the floor and into the corridor when we ran a bath.

"Really lovely and convenient - would be my place of choice to stay again in London!"
Recently had a wonderful stay here. The house is beautiful - the living room was very comfy, the bedrooms were all clean, homey, and sizable, and the three bathrooms/half baths were also a convenient surprise! The highlight of the house is the kitchen - it was very spacious, with any appliance you could need. We really enjoyed just sitting and chatting at the large dining room table, and while we didn't make much use of it, the Lazy Susan was an interesting feature.
The area was also very nice - easy walking distance to public transport in the form of buses and the DLR. We used the DLR regularly to travel to the Excel Centre and into central London. However, an Uber to the Excel from Hameway House is also very affordable, so I would really recommend staying here if you are traveling to events there, I would say it is a much better deal for a large group than the nearby hotels. There were a number of shops nearby, and a few pubs/restaurants only a short walk away in Beckton.
The host was lovely - Rasheda checked in by message to make sure we had arrived okay, and were enjoying our time, and gave clear instructions for getting into the property and operating appliances about the house (heating, wi-fi).
I would really recommend staying here, and would happily book to stay here again.
What could be improved: It was really good - very few complaints. The only issue we had was was a little bit of noise. One of the neighbours had a cockerel that very much welcomed the morning, though we didn't really find it a bother. However, there was quite a lot of shouting and arguing from one of the neighbours late into most nights (at a volume where we could hear swearing and snippets of the actual argument through the wall). This is obviously something out of anyone's control, and was just bad timing on our part. Aside from this, it was quite perfect.
