Flat 2, 6 Tauton Mews in Marylebone
First Impressions
Flat 2, 6 Tauton Mews in Marylebone sits on one of those charming cobbled mews that make London feel like a movie set. I mean, you’re literally staying in what was probably a Victorian coach house, and the whole street has this incredible intimate vibe that you just don’t get in big hotels. The entrance feels like you’re visiting a friend’s place rather than checking into accommodation — which is honestly refreshing after dealing with sterile hotel lobbies.
The Marylebone Advantage
Location-wise, this three-star spot absolutely nails it. You’re a five-minute walk from Baker Street station, which connects you to pretty much everywhere, and Regent’s Park is right there when you need green space. What I really love though is that you’re surrounded by proper neighborhood life — there’s a brilliant little café around the corner, and the Sunday farmers market on Marylebone High Street is something locals actually use, not just a tourist thing.
The Space Itself
The apartment feels genuinely homey, with original features that remind you this building has stories to tell. The room layout makes smart use of the space — it’s not massive, but everything has its place and the character more than makes up for any size limitations. You’ll find a compact kitchenette that’s actually functional (I managed proper breakfasts, not just instant coffee), and the bathroom, while small, works perfectly well for a city break.
Neighborhood Life
What struck me most was how you slip into local rhythms here. Mornings, you hear neighbors heading off to work; evenings, there’s this lovely quiet that settles over the mews. The Chiltern Firehouse is literally around the corner if you’re feeling fancy, but honestly, some of my best meals came from the Portuguese place on the high street that doesn’t even have a proper sign. Parking isn’t really an option (this is central London, after all), but you won’t miss having a car — everything’s walkable or a quick tube ride away.
Why Guests Love It
You know what makes this place work? It’s that you’re staying in actual London, not tourist London. Yeah, you’re close enough to pop over to Oxford Street or catch a show in the West End, but you’re also living like someone who actually calls this city home. The value is solid for what you get — a proper London address, tons of character, and that neighborhood feel that makes you want to come back. It’s not trying to be anything more than a comfortable, well-located base, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
