First Impressions
The Crowne Plaza London Ealing by IHG sits right on Western Avenue, and honestly, it’s one of those hotels that surprises you. From the outside, it looks like a standard business hotel — which it sort of is — but step inside and you realize there’s more thought put into this place than you’d expect from a four-star property in West London.
Location and Getting Around
Ealing isn’t exactly central London, but that’s actually part of its charm. You’re about 30 minutes from the heart of the city by tube, and the Ealing Broadway station is close enough that you won’t be dragging your luggage too far. What I really appreciated was how quiet it felt compared to staying in Zone 1 — you can actually sleep here without sirens going off every hour.
The area around the hotel has that proper West London suburban feel, with decent pubs within walking distance and a massive Tesco if you need supplies. Plus, parking is way easier here than anywhere closer to the center, which anyone who’s driven in London will tell you is worth its weight in gold.
The Room Experience
My room was larger than I expected — not huge, mind you, but definitely comfortable for a few nights. The bed was properly firm (thank goodness), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showerheads that actually worked well. The air conditioning was quiet too, which sounds like a small thing until you’re trying to sleep in a stuffy London summer.
What struck me was how everything felt fresh and well-maintained. The TV was modern, there were plenty of outlets near the bed, and the blackout curtains actually blocked out light. Sometimes it’s the basics done right that make a difference.
Food and Facilities
The restaurant downstairs serves decent food — nothing that’ll blow your mind, but solid British and international dishes that hit the spot after a long day exploring London. I had their fish and chips one evening, and it was properly done with crispy batter and good mushy peas.
There’s also a fitness center that’s small but has the essentials, and the staff actually keeps it clean and organized. The lobby area works well if you need to catch up on emails or just sit somewhere that isn’t your room for a bit.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the kind of place you choose for Instagram photos or to impress anyone. But if you want a reliable, comfortable base for exploring London without paying central London prices, the Crowne Plaza Ealing does exactly what it promises. The staff are genuinely helpful without being overly formal, and you get the feeling they actually care about making your stay work.
I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was visiting for more than just a quick weekend. Sometimes the best hotels are the ones that just let you get on with enjoying your trip without any drama.
London hotels keep travelers close to Tower Bridge views, iconic shopping streets, and tube lines to world-class museums.
