Walking down Camden High Street, you might actually miss Classy Camden Studio at first — it’s tucked into number 23A without much fanfare. But that’s sort of the point with this unique boutique hotel without official star rating. There’s no grand lobby or doorman, just a discreet entrance that leads to what feels more like a friend’s incredibly well-designed apartment than a traditional hotel.
The Space
The studio itself is honestly quite clever — they’ve managed to pack everything you need into a compact space without it feeling cramped. The room flows seamlessly from sleeping area to a small kitchenette (and yes, having your own coffee setup in the morning is brilliant). I mean, you’re not going to host dinner parties here, but for a couple of nights in London, it works perfectly. The design leans modern with some vintage touches that actually feel authentic rather than trying too hard.
Location Perks
Here’s what I love about the location — you’re right in the thick of Camden’s energy, but the studio is surprisingly quiet once you close the door. Camden Market is literally a two-minute walk, and you know what? Having Regent’s Park just down the road means you can escape the tourist crowds whenever you need a breather. The Northern line tube station is practically on your doorstep, so getting anywhere in central London takes maybe 15-20 minutes tops.
Local Flavor
The Camden High Street location means you’re surrounded by some genuinely good eating options beyond the market food stalls. There’s this little Lebanese restaurant around the corner that locals actually go to, and the gastropub situation is solid if you want something more traditionally British. Plus — and this matters when you’re lugging suitcases — there’s decent parking nearby, though honestly, you probably won’t need a car once you’re settled in.
Why Guests Love It
What strikes me about Classy Camden Studio is that it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. You won’t find a concierge or room service, but you will find thoughtful touches like proper blackout curtains (a godsend for jet lag) and surprisingly good water pressure in the shower. It’s perfect for travelers who want independence and a genuine neighborhood feel rather than the hotel bubble experience. The 7.5 rating makes sense — it’s not flawless, but it delivers exactly what it promises with a bit of character thrown in.

What could be improved: Couple of small problems - aluminium saucepan did not work on induction hob, only one chair in a room for two, window blind could not be raised, microwave would massively improve cooking facilities

"We had a good stay and the studio is comfortable."
Clean, quite and in a good location the studio catered to all our needs apart from not having a coffee machine. Luckily there is a Pret across the road.
What could be improved: There was a problem with the check out. On Booking.com the time ambiguously states 11.00-12.00 however the cleaner arrived at 11.00 meaning we had to rush and were asked to pay money to the cleaner!

"The area is good and quite easy to navigate and Tania is super."
Tania is a great host and effective communicator.
What could be improved: For us from the U.S. who are used to large spaces, this one was "tiny". The window opens up to exhaust from restaurants below the condo. So not an ideal space in terms of size and window locations.

The mini kitchen and clothes washer downstairs.
What could be improved: Bed was very hard. Nothing to hold onto when stepping into and out of the bathtub.

The location is great and the apartment was clean.
What could be improved: Unfortunately it was a bit more rundown than expected with the curtains about to fall, holes in the wall and hooks not supporting any weight.

Location was good and staff communicated well
What could be improved: It is not an apartment. It is only a room in the upstairs of someone's home. The room is very noisy as the A/C machines are running directly outside of the window. Because it is not apartment, all the noises from the other rooms are heard making the stay very uncomfortable. Window has poor insulation, very cold room.

"Regular apartamento, ubicación 10"
La ubicación, en el corazón de Camden.
What could be improved: La calefacción la apagaban y pasamos frío por la noche, solo estuvo encendida 1 día de 4 que estuvimos. El apartamento está bonito, pero algo descuidado, y debería mejorar la limpieza un poco, en la ventana del baño había polvo y pelos con más de 2 semanas de antigüedad. Se escucha bastante el metro, menos mal que de noche para.
