First Impressions

Walking up to Chic Bayswater Luxury Retreat on Leinster Square, you’ll notice it sits on one of those classic London garden squares that feels worlds away from the tourist crowds. The Georgian façade blends seamlessly with its neighbors, but there’s something quietly confident about this three-star property that caught my attention immediately. It’s not trying too hard to impress — which, honestly, is refreshing in this part of town.

Location & Getting Around

Bayswater gets overlooked by a lot of visitors, but that’s actually what makes it brilliant. You’re a proper five-minute walk from Hyde Park, and Queensway tube station is practically around the corner — I mean, you can get to Oxford Circus in about ten minutes. The square itself is lined with those gorgeous white stucco houses, and there’s this lovely garden in the center that only residents have keys to (you can peek through the railings though).

The Room Experience

My room was compact but thoughtfully designed — they’ve clearly put effort into maximizing every square foot without making it feel cramped. The bed was surprisingly comfortable for a mid-range property, and I loved the little touches like the vintage-style reading lights and the decent-sized desk by the window. The bathroom was modern and spotless, though you know what? The water pressure was better than some four-star places I’ve stayed at in central London.

Neighborhood Gems

Here’s where staying in Bayswater really pays off — you’re surrounded by incredible Middle Eastern and Asian food that most tourists never discover. There’s this Lebanese place called Maroush just down Edgware Road that’s been there forever, and honestly, it’s some of the best food you’ll have in London. The Whiteleys shopping center is being redeveloped, but there are still plenty of cafes and shops along Queensway, including that famous 24-hour Tesco if you need late-night supplies.

Why Guests Love It

What strikes me most about this place is how it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. The staff genuinely seem to care — they gave me solid recommendations for local spots and helped sort out a minor issue with my key card without any fuss. It’s clean, comfortable, and well-located, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many London hotels mess up at least one of those things. For the price point, especially considering you’re still in Zone 1, it’s pretty solid value.
