Overview
First Impressions
Chepstow Place- Notting Hill sits on one of those gorgeous tree-lined streets that make you feel like you’ve stumbled into a movie set. You know what struck me first? The building itself — it’s this elegant Victorian townhouse conversion that manages to look both grand and welcoming at the same time. The entrance feels intimate rather than intimidating, which honestly sets the tone for the whole experience.
The Notting Hill Advantage
Here’s the thing about staying in Notting Hill — you’re in one of London’s most charming neighborhoods without the tourist circus of Covent Garden or the sterile feel of Canary Wharf. From Chepstow Place, I could walk to Portobello Market in about eight minutes (I timed it), and the Westway sports centre is practically around the corner if you’re into that sort of thing. Hyde Park’s literally a three-minute stroll, which means morning jogs or evening walks by the Serpentine are totally doable.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had this perfect balance of period charm and modern comfort that four-star properties should deliver. High ceilings, original features like cornicing, but also proper blackout curtains and a bathroom that actually had decent water pressure — small victories that matter when you’re dealing with London’s older buildings. The bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with the mattress all night, and there was enough space to properly unpack without living out of a suitcase.
Practical Details
What I really appreciated was how the staff handled the basics without making a big show of it. Check-in was smooth, they knew the neighborhood well enough to give actual useful recommendations (not just the obvious tourist spots), and when I needed parking advice, they pointed me toward the residents’ bays that are free on Sundays — the kind of local knowledge that saves you money. The Wi-Fi worked consistently throughout the building, which isn’t always a given in these converted Victorian properties.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the flashiest hotel you’ll find in London, but that’s actually part of its appeal. It feels like staying in a well-appointed friend’s house in one of the city’s most desirable postcodes. You’re close enough to central London that the tube journey to Oxford Circus takes maybe fifteen minutes, but you get to come home to tree-lined streets and that village-y feel that Notting Hill does so well. The 7.5 rating makes sense — it’s solid, reliable, and genuinely pleasant without trying to be something it’s not.

Location & had everything we needed
What could be improved: The narrow steep staircase to get into property

"Cute bolthole in Notting Hill, quiet street close to all the good transport links"
Lovely apartment, well stocked kitchen (inc tea!), spacious and clean. Close to Hyde park and Notting Hill
What could be improved: The noise from the toddler running laps upstairs was deafening. Can’t open bedroom window. No change of bedding or fresh towels if staying a week (as I did) was offered.

"A cute space, convenient to tourist spots and good dining options. Like most Vbros, they need a bit of sprucing up and i"
The location was perfect. Walkable to all amenities and activities.
What could be improved: Unit is a bit quirky, but decent size. There was an odor of dampness/mold in the space, which it is a basement flat, so maybe it is to be expected in London. I opened the windows to air the unit out, which helped. Neighbors cat appeared, having accessed the sunroof windows, a bit freaky. Had to coax the cat out of the unit, she didn’t want to go because it was raining. I’m allergic to cat dander and didn’t bring my epi pen, so put on stockings, a face mask, and had to scoop her up to get her out of the unit. Also, upstairs tenants were loud and sounded like elephants charging across the floor/ceiling most of my stay. These same occupants made several attempts to come downstairs (through internal stairs and a locked door) at odd hours, they giggled the key lock and turned on lights in the flat multiple times - a bit unsettling and unusual given they were renters and given the time of day (late night). If I was a single female, I would have called the police twice. I did lock interior doors for my sense of personal safety.

"Well-priced and stylishly appointed apartment in great location, but a bit noisy in the morning"
Very good location, well-sized and nicely appointed apartment, with a surprisingly pleasant amount of light.
What could be improved: Main issue was noise from the upstairs residence - there was a child / small elephant that ran around a lot quite early in the morning, which made sleeping quite difficult.

We had the pleasure of staying in this incredible accommodation during our time in London, and we would like to share our positive experience.
The location is truly unique, situated in an incredibly quiet area. It's hard to believe that we are in the heart of London, given the tranquility of the neighborhood. We were able to enjoy serene and refreshing nights, providing a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
As for the apartment, it is spectacular in every way. The fully-equipped kitchen is not only functional but also beautifully designed. Equipped with everything we could need, it gave us the freedom to prepare our meals.
Surprisingly, despite being located in the lower part of a typical Notting Hill house, the apartment receives an impressive amount of natural light. This creates a cozy and well-lit atmosphere, making the stay even more enjoyable.
As photographers, we were delighted with the numerous photographs scattered throughout the house. They not only added an artistic touch but also brought a unique sense of personality to the space. Additionally, the presence of a variety of photography books made the environment even more welcoming, as if it were truly our home.
Access to the metro stations is extremely convenient, with Notting Hill Gate and Bayswater stations just a 10-minute walk away. Furthermore, Paddington Central station, offering direct access to the airports, is less than a 20-minute walk away. This proximity greatly facilitated our movement around the city and to the airports.
The excellent heating system, impeccable cleanliness, and the team's attention all contributed to an unforgettable stay.
We would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone seeking an exceptional experience in London. We can't wait to return!

"It was okay"
Easy location to get to tube station
Clean
What could be improved: The toilet didn’t flush properly. Took 2 days to get a plumber— and I didn’t like hearing’oh you have another toilet” when the toilet near my bedroom looked disgusting

"This is by far the best property in London I have stayed at. Highly recommended for business travelers staying in London"
I liked the spaciousnesses of the property as well as its central location in London. I also liked the exquisite choice of toiletries consisting of organic or natural ingredients. The management was attentive to the client throughout the stay. Check-in and check-out processes were also smooth enabled by the self-check-in system. Arguably the best property in London I have stayed at so far.
What could be improved: Some lights were old and were either dim or blinking. There was a slight moldy odor most likely due to the property’s limited ventilation underground. However, the property demonstrated exceptional cleanliness, and these minor faults can be easily remedied by the attentive management.
