Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Central Victorian House on Camden Road, you’ll immediately notice this isn’t your typical London hotel. It’s one of those unique boutique properties that doesn’t chase official star ratings — and honestly, that’s part of its charm. The Victorian facade has character that chain hotels just can’t replicate, with original features that make you feel like you’re staying in someone’s beautifully restored home rather than a commercial property.
The Neighborhood Feel
Camden’s got this energy that’s hard to describe — it’s edgy but not intimidating, creative but not pretentious. You’re actually in a sweet spot here, away from the tourist chaos of Camden Market but close enough to walk there in about ten minutes. The Tube station is right there too, which means central London is genuinely accessible. I mean, you can be in King’s Cross in five minutes or Oxford Circus in fifteen.
The Room Experience
Each room feels different — that’s what happens when you’re working with a genuine Victorian building rather than some cookie-cutter design. The ceilings are high, the windows actually open (novel concept, right?), and there’s this attention to detail that surprises you. Some rooms have original fireplaces, others have these gorgeous period moldings that developers usually rip out. The bathrooms are modern where they need to be, but they haven’t destroyed the building’s soul in the process.
What Makes It Work
The staff here actually seem to enjoy their jobs — you know that feeling when someone gives you directions because they want to help, not because corporate training told them to? That’s what you get here. They know the area well enough to send you to the good pubs (not the tourist traps) and the restaurant recommendations feel genuine. There’s no stuffy formality, but there’s definitely care in how they run the place.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it doesn’t try to be everything to everyone. If you want a spa, marble bathrooms, and room service at 3 AM, look elsewhere. But if you want authentic London character, a neighborhood that feels real, and a place that treats you like a person rather than a booking number — well, that’s exactly what Central Victorian House delivers. The 8.5 rating makes perfect sense when you experience it firsthand.

"Lovely budget friendly period home."
The location of the property and the room was good. Plenty of tea and coffee facilities, and comfy bed. Lovely and warm in the property.
What could be improved: The bathroom lock needs attention it doesn’t fasten properly and the bathroom in general would benefit from a lick of paint.

"Comfortable room in Camden - great location"
Fantastic location, easy to get in and very responsive staff. Complimentary assortment of tea/coffee with kettle was much appreciated!
What could be improved: The wooden door between my room and the one next door meant I could hear my neighbours talk, but thankfully the other guests that night were quiet and respectful. I did feel bad about my cough, knowing they could probably also hear any noise from my room too.

Brilliant location and very comfy apartment with tea/coffee provided.very comfy bed.
What could be improved: Not a huge problem, but a bigger/nearer side table so the lamp and tea cup could be closer for reading on one side of the bed.

"Fantastic place, clean homely and no fuss 10/10"
Beautifully hidden from the road is a little gate that leads to this lovely, clean and homely guest house, Getting in was easy with all details provided. The room itself was very well set out and we loved the extra touches...ear plugs, slippers hot water bottles, corkscrew, not that we needed them, it was very peaceful and cozy.
We were visiting to see a band at the 02 forum, which is a easy stroll away, there are nice bars and eateries close by which made our walk down more fun.
As a smoker I greatly appreciated the lovely little seating area in the garden, complete with cats. Looking forward to staying again next time I'm in Camden.
What could be improved: We didn't like having to leave!

What a lovely, quirky little find in the perfect location. Stayed one night before a flight and I was very happy. Booked the single room and when I tell you the bed was the most comfortable I’ve slept in my life! Perfect stay and very nice hospitality when i checked in.
What could be improved: Nothing to say I genuinely think this was a fantastic stay and I hope I can come back when in London!

"Exceptional"
The room was very spacious and had a very comfortable mattress, not too soft & not too firm. We got the room on a last minute deal which made it seem a lot better value.
What could be improved: The wifi didn't work at all, but the kind staff member was working on fixing it.
