Central Cove – Fitzrovia – By Frankie Says
First Impressions
Central Cove – Fitzrovia – By Frankie Says caught me off guard in the best way possible. I mean, you walk into this four-star spot on a quiet Fitzrovia street and immediately feel like you’ve stumbled into someone’s incredibly stylish London flat rather than a traditional hotel. The lobby has this warm, residential vibe that honestly makes you want to grab a book and settle in for hours.
Location & Neighborhood
London can be overwhelming, but Fitzrovia is one of those neighborhoods that just works. You’re literally walking distance from Oxford Street when you need that shopping fix, but you can also duck into these fantastic independent cafés and galleries that tourists rarely find. The hotel sits perfectly between the chaos of central London and the quieter residential streets — I actually saw more locals than tourists wandering around, which tells you something.
What I love about staying here is how you can walk to the British Museum in about ten minutes, but you’re also close enough to Charlotte Street’s restaurant scene that you’ll have trouble choosing where to eat. The Goodge Street tube station is right there too, so getting anywhere else in the city is pretty straightforward.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in felt more like a well-designed apartment than a hotel space. There’s this attention to detail that surprised me — proper lighting for actually reading, a desk that’s not an afterthought, and a bathroom that doesn’t feel cramped. The décor walks this fine line between trendy and timeless, which I appreciated because some boutique places try way too hard.
You know what really stood out? The bed was genuinely comfortable, and the windows actually opened — seems basic, but you’d be amazed how many London hotels seal you in completely. The kitchenette setup was minimal but functional, perfect for morning coffee or storing those late-night snacks from the corner shop.
Service & Atmosphere
The staff here gets it right without being over the top. They’re helpful when you need them but don’t hover around trying to anticipate your every move. I had a question about getting to a specific gallery in East London, and the person at reception actually knew the area well enough to suggest which route to take — that kind of local knowledge makes a difference.
There’s this relaxed energy throughout the place that I think comes from the residential feel of Fitzrovia itself. It’s not stuffy or formal, but it’s not trying to be a party hostel either. Just… comfortable, I guess.
Why Guests Love It
Honestly, this place works because it doesn’t feel like you’re staying in a generic hotel chain. The location gives you easy access to major attractions without putting you in the middle of tourist central, and the property itself has enough character to make your stay memorable. The 7.7 rating makes sense — it’s not perfect, but it delivers on what matters most when you’re exploring London.
If you want to feel like a temporary Londoner rather than just another visitor passing through, Central Cove hits that sweet spot between comfort and authenticity that’s harder to find than you’d think.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
