Overview
First Impressions
Bob W London Tower Hill – Residences feels more like stepping into a friend’s stylish apartment than checking into a hotel. Located on Chamber Street in Tower Hamlets, this apartment-style property does something different — and honestly, it works really well. The building has this modern, understated vibe that doesn’t try too hard to impress, but somehow ends up being exactly what you need.
Location & Getting Around
You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Tower Hill station, which makes getting anywhere in London ridiculously easy. I mean, you can see the Tower of London from some windows — that’s how close you are to the action. But here’s what I actually loved: it’s tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with tourist crowds every time you leave the building. The area has this cool mix of City workers and locals, plus some decent pubs and cafes that aren’t charging tourist prices.
The Apartment Experience
Each room is essentially a studio apartment with a proper kitchenette, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re staying more than a night or two. The design is clean and functional — think Scandinavian minimalism but warmer. There’s enough space to actually unpack and settle in, plus the wifi is solid (I worked from there a couple days without issues). The bed was comfortable, and I appreciated having blackout curtains since the London summer sun starts streaming in pretty early.
Practical Perks
Having that kitchenette means you can grab groceries from the Tesco around the corner and actually save some money on meals — which in London, trust me, adds up quickly. There’s no on-site restaurant, but honestly with Borough Market just across the river and all the food options nearby, you don’t really miss it. The staff keeps things simple and efficient; they’re there when you need them but don’t hover. Parking is available if you’re driving, though in this part of London you probably won’t need a car.
Why Guests Love It
This four-star property gets the balance right between hotel service and apartment independence. It’s perfect for longer stays, business trips, or honestly just when you want to feel a bit more settled while exploring London. The location gives you easy access to both the historic bits (Tower Bridge, Borough Market) and the financial district, but you’re staying somewhere that feels residential rather than touristy. For the price point and what you get — especially that extra space and the kitchen — it’s actually pretty solid value for London standards.

"Excellent, clean and functional place to stay close by several London attractions and the DLR"
Good location for attending events at ExCel. Not BobW's fault that the DLR was on strike for the week! Code access makes it simple to access the property. Lots of facilities including washer/dryer, etc.
What could be improved: Room was quite warm with no air conditioning. Wasn't warned about the fire alarm test on Monday until after it happened, then had a real fire alarm caused by one of the other guests late one evening.

"Everything you need for a short stay"
The apartment was close to the tube line. My flight was cancelled the night before departure from London and I had to book this last minute. It had everything I needed for a one night stay. Bob was super helpful and kept in contact to ensure I had everything I needed
What could be improved: There was no aircon and in the middle of summer, it was very muggy inside even with the fans provided

Location. Very clean. Host was contactable really easily even when I forgot my door code.
There was a personal birthday note on the room.
What could be improved: No milk although there was tea and coffee. I asked the maid for some and she said they didnt supply it.
The room was really hot and the heating/cooling system didnt appear easy to control or didnt work.

"Very pleasant stay"
The space was really nice, clean and well equipped. I felt really comfortable and relaxed staying there.
What could be improved: My booking somehow got lost so I was unable to check in myself. I tried emailing and sending a dm (both advised on booking.com) to sort this in advance but no response. Once I called though, they provided a Whatapp number for me to message and they were very helpful. Once the initial stress of check in was over I had a lovely time and staff were super helpful. Also thought my stay would good value for money for location and for gym to be included.
Also shower pressure was ok for 1 night but I was staying longer term and needed to wash my hair, it would be a struggle.

"great location, great facilities, clean"
the quick reply from the hosts , very helpful and friendly
What could be improved: view on a wall, the room was not cleaned every day with I knew before but I still think that for the price and a stay of 5 nights... the sheets could have been changed once (for free).

"Very good"
Location was good. Wetherspoons round the corner for breakfast, Tesco local and sainsbury's also just around the corner and the Aldgate underground at the top of the road. The studio apt was clean, modern and well equipped. Bed comfy, shower hot.
What could be improved: Nothing really. The train noise was noticeable but only during the morning, it didn't run through the night. And it could have just done with a hook in the bathroom.
