Blakemore Hyde Park
First Impressions
Walking up to Blakemore Hyde Park on Leinster Gardens, you immediately notice it’s got that classic London townhouse thing going on — white stucco facade, elegant proportions, the works. It’s one of those converted Victorian terraces that somehow manages to look both grand and approachable at the same time. The lobby isn’t huge, but it’s got character with its mix of contemporary touches and period details that actually work together instead of fighting each other.
The Bayswater Advantage
Here’s what I love about this spot in London — you’re literally a two-minute walk from Hyde Park, which is brilliant for morning runs or just escaping the city madness. Bayswater gets overlooked by tourists rushing to Mayfair or Covent Garden, but honestly, that’s their loss. You’ve got Paddington Station nearby (hello, Heathrow Express), and the Queensway and Bayswater tube stops are right there. Plus, there’s this great mix of Middle Eastern restaurants and proper pubs within walking distance that most hotel concierges never mention.
The Room Experience
My room was compact but cleverly designed — I mean, this is London, so you’re not getting a sprawling suite unless you’re paying twice the price. The beds are actually comfortable (not always a given in four-star hotels), and they’ve managed to squeeze in a decent work desk without making the space feel cramped. The bathrooms are modern with good water pressure, which honestly made my day after dealing with some questionable shower situations at other London hotels.
Daily Rhythms
Breakfast happens in their ground-floor restaurant, and while it’s not going to win any awards, it does the job well — proper English breakfast options alongside lighter continental stuff. The staff here actually seem to remember guests, which is refreshing in a city where hotel service can feel pretty impersonal. There’s no spa or fancy wellness center, but you know what? Hyde Park is right there — that’s your gym and relaxation space sorted.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
What strikes me about this place is how it gets the fundamentals right without trying too hard to impress. The location gives you that perfect balance of being central but not touristy, the rooms are comfortable without unnecessary frills, and the pricing feels fair for what you get. It’s the kind of hotel where business travelers feel sorted and leisure guests don’t feel like they’re missing out on the “real” London experience — because honestly, you’re right in the middle of it.
