Overview
First Impressions
The Blades Hotel sits on Belgrave Road in a classic Victorian terrace that’s been converted into a proper three-star hotel — and honestly, it’s one of those places that grows on you. The building has that distinctly British charm with white stucco facades, though the entrance is refreshingly straightforward without any pretentious fuss. You know what strikes me most? It’s how the staff actually seem to remember your name after the first day, which is surprisingly rare in London these days.
Location & Neighborhood
Westminster Borough is absolutely perfect if you’re planning to do the typical tourist rounds, but also want to feel like you’re staying somewhere real Londoners actually live. Victoria Station is literally a five-minute walk — I mean, you can practically hear the trains if you listen carefully. What I love about Belgrave Road is that it’s got this mix of budget hotels and local businesses, so you’re not stuck in some sterile hotel district where everything closes at 9 PM.
The Room Experience
The rooms are honestly what you’d expect from a solid mid-range place — clean, functional, and surprisingly quiet considering how close you are to Victoria. My room had decent-sized windows that actually opened (a blessing in summer), and the bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with it all night. The bathroom was compact but well-designed, with a shower that had proper water pressure — you’d be amazed how many London hotels mess that up.
Practical Touches
Here’s where Blades Hotel actually shines — it’s the little things that make travel easier. There’s a small breakfast area where you can grab something quick before heading out, and the WiFi actually works throughout the building (I tested it from the top floor). The front desk keeps maps and Oyster card information handy, plus they’re genuinely helpful about tube routes without being condescending about it. Parking isn’t available on-site, but honestly, you don’t need a car here anyway — everything’s walkable or a quick tube ride away.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back to Blades Hotel is that it delivers exactly what it promises without any surprises — good or bad. You’re paying for a clean, comfortable base in central London with staff who know their neighborhood inside out. It’s not going to wow you with fancy amenities, but it’s not going to disappoint you either. For the price point and location, that’s actually pretty impressive in a city where budget accommodations can be genuinely awful.

"Very good"
The hotel is in a great location, the view from the window is beautiful, the street is very lovely and not as loud as other central areas - quite quiet in fact during the night. The neighborhood is also lovely, within a five minute walk there is everything you need - grocery shop, pharmacy, places to grab food, etc. The room itself was quite nice and cozy, I felt great being there. The staff were lovely especially the Polish lady at the front desk and the cleaning ladies, they made sure everything was alright with my stay and were checking in quite frequently.
What could be improved: I would have liked if there was a bit more storage space, like a cupboard, or another shelf or two in the bathroom. As I was there for a longer stay, I didn't have much space to put my belongings. Additionally, I needed a fridge to put some medicines but the hotel (not only the room) did not have one which was a bit inconvenient.

"Superb"
The staff are very friendly and helpful, the area is really good with two train stations really close. Good coffee around the corner and lots of other shops nearby
What could be improved: There wasn't an elevator but I knew that when booking, staff offered to help carry up bags though

"Great stay in a great location"
Great location, easy to find. Range of room sizes very convenient. Patty at the front desk was incredibly helpful!

"Quaint hotel, comfy room but shower was lacking"
Stayed before and in the same single room, quiet and quaint.
What could be improved: The shower had no power behind it so while water was warm/hot, it was the only disappointing feature of the room.

"A little bit of a Blackpool accommodation feel."
The host was lovely. My mum had declined in health since booking it and I did not think to mention it to her and she had us on the second floor. However we did not even go up the stairs to the reception before she made changes and upgraded us so my mam could stay on the ground floor so no stairs for her. The host still was polite the days that followed and not annoyed that I did not mention anything about my mums ill health. For that I was grateful and it made the stay even better. They even came in and cleaned everyday which I was not expecting but again grateful. There was a number 24 bus that could get us to the hop on off buses, Trafalgar Square and Big Ben without having to walk for my mum, which was a massive bonus for my mum and her limited walking.
What could be improved: The bathroom door did not close fully so not fully private when going to the toilet. But I was with my mum and daughter so not to big of a deal.

Great property for location and value. Staff were incredibly friendly and accomodating. The only negative side was the overwhelming heat during our stay but we were well informed that the room did not have air conditiong. The room was prepared with numerous fans which was a huge bonus.

"A great little hotel."
Very clean and comfortable with Friendly welcome. It's a small hotel and reception closes at 10 and there's no breakfast - neither of which were a problem for me. Room was a bit hot but on the rear which was very quiet so i could have the window open and there's were two fans in the room!
What could be improved: Shower flow was very small, I guess the top floor... but fine.
