KingswayPark Hotel at Park Avenue
First Impressions
The KingswayPark Hotel at Park Avenue sits on Sussex Gardens in a row of those classic white-stucco London townhouses that make you feel like you’re in a period drama. I’ll be honest — it’s not flashy, but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about this three-star place. The entrance is modest, tucked into what feels like a residential street, and that actually works in its favor because you’re staying somewhere that feels more like a neighborhood than a tourist zone.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what I really love about staying here — you’re a five-minute walk from Paddington Station, which means the Heathrow Express drops you practically at your doorstep. But more importantly, you’re in London‘s Hyde Park area without paying Hyde Park prices. I mean, you can walk to Speaker’s Corner in about ten minutes, and Oxford Street is close enough that you won’t need the Tube unless you’re feeling lazy. The Sussex Gardens strip has this interesting mix of budget hotels and local cafes that most tourists never discover.
The Room Experience
The rooms are… well, they’re what you’d expect from a converted Victorian townhouse. Mine had that slightly odd layout where the bathroom felt like an afterthought, but honestly, everything worked fine. The bed was comfortable enough, and there’s something charming about the high ceilings and original architectural details they’ve kept. You know what surprised me? The Wi-Fi was actually reliable, and the room stayed quiet despite being on a busy street — those old buildings have thick walls.
Practical Matters
The front desk staff are genuinely helpful — not just polite, but actually useful when you need directions or recommendations. There’s no fancy restaurant or room service, but Sussex Gardens has plenty of options within a block or two. I grabbed breakfast most mornings at a little Polish cafe around the corner that the hotel recommended. The whole area feels surprisingly residential for being so central, which I found refreshing after staying in more touristy parts of town.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to be anyone’s Instagram moment, but it does exactly what it promises without any pretense. You’re paying for a clean, safe place to sleep in an excellent location, and that’s exactly what you get. The value proposition really works — especially if you’re the type who spends most of your time exploring the city rather than hanging around the hotel. For the price point and the proximity to everything you actually want to see in London, it’s honestly hard to complain about much.
