Location & Getting Around

You’re right in the heart of Catford, which I’ll admit isn’t the most glamorous part of London, but that’s sort of the point. It’s real London — the kind where you can actually afford a decent meal and the locals aren’t all tourists. The train connections are better than you’d expect, with Catford Bridge station getting you into central London in about 25 minutes. Plus, there’s parking available, which anyone who’s driven in London will tell you is basically finding gold.

The Space

The house itself is surprisingly spacious — four bedrooms means you’re not cramped if you’re traveling with a group or family. Each room has its own character, and I mean that in a good way, not in a “the wallpaper is peeling” way. The communal areas actually encourage you to hang out, unlike those sterile hotel lobbies where you feel like you’re being watched. There’s a proper kitchen too, which becomes a lifesaver when you want breakfast at 6 AM or fancy a midnight snack.

What Makes It Work

What struck me most was how the place manages to feel both homely and well-run at the same time. The owners clearly put thought into the little things — decent Wi-Fi throughout, enough electrical outlets where you actually need them, and towels that don’t feel like sandpaper. The neighborhood grows on you too; there’s a good Turkish place around the corner and a proper old-school pub that hasn’t been gentrified to death yet.

This place works brilliantly if you want to experience London without paying West End prices for everything. You’re getting genuine value here — not just cheap accommodation, but a place that feels like it cares about your stay. Comfortability and easy access to so many things like shops, clubs,pubs, restaurants, to name a few

Lovely back garden. The house was nice and spacious. Enough room for 7 of us to fit comfortably. Good neighbourhood, shops, and local amenities. The hosts were great with communication.
What could be improved: Someone had dumped all their stuff in the bins for the house. It's not the hosts fault at all, but it made sorting the recycling/rubbish impossible.

"Overall a good value"
The property was spacious.
What could be improved: The sheets didn’t seem fresh, the shower curtain was dirty, the didn’t seem to work well downstairs, the fridge was slow to cool/freeze.

"Excellent Value and Excellent on Space!"
There was an extra bed put in the downstairs bedroom, which was a nice surprise and an Extension lead for extra plugs which was a nice touch. The house was so spacious and so perfect as there were 7 of us staying. The key box was a welcome addition to as we were able to come and go separately if needed. Garden was very well kept and used for Breakfast outside morning. Easy parking access with a double driveway on a nice quiet Street.
What could be improved: There is potentially a drainage issue as each time the downstairs Shower was used, the driveway outside flooded and the dishwasher was a bit smelly when used. Toilet Roll holder in the Downstairs bathroom needs replacing. Curtains could do with being a Thicker as its very light in the mornings. But overall...... Very Happy with our stay and the price paid for the space we had!

"Despite a couple of minor issues, over all, all was as expected."
Off street parking (two car parking spaces directly infornt of property) and near to train station and bus stops. Convenience shops and take away restaurants within 3 minute walk.
What could be improved: Was disappointed that despite that I reported that the kettle was defective no action on behalf of the owner was taken. It was rather ironic that within the first hour of occupying the property I received the following message: „Hello, We hope that you have managed to settle in alright and that you are enjoying your stay. Please let me know if there’s anything you need and if we can assist it in anyway! Is something not working correctly? Can’t figure something out? We’d love for the opportunity to make it right ASAP.“ Adding to the above, a broken toilet roll holder in the (compact) downstairs toilet was not only unsightly but had sharp jagged edges which albeit slight, was an area of concern as we had young children with us. Loose/wobbly toilet seat in upstairs bathroom.

"Nice Stay"
Gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, hatten sogar noch ein Bett mehr als vorgesehen. Sehr geräumig und schöner Garten! Alles da, was man braucht. Gerne wieder!
What could be improved: Kleine Kritikpunkte: Die Handtücher waren noch nass in der Waschmaschine und wir mussten sie selber in den Trockner tun, was aber wohl ein Versehen war :) Dafür waren es aber auch mehr als genug Handtücher für alle, mehr als üblich! Außerdem vielleicht gut zu wissen (hierfür kann der Host natürlich nichts): Die Nachbarschaft der Unterkunft war manchmal etwas unheimlich, ich hatte mich nicht getraut, alleine dort herumzulaufen. In der Gruppe ging es aber.
