Accommodation Plus
First Impressions
Walking up to Accommodation Plus on Leman Street, you know you’re not getting a fancy lobby with marble floors — and honestly, that’s perfectly fine. This three-star place sits right in the heart of Tower Hamlets, occupying the first and second floors of what feels like a typical East London building. The entrance is straightforward, no fuss, and the staff actually seem to remember your name after the first day.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about this part of London — you’re literally walking distance from some incredible stuff. Tower Bridge is maybe a 10-minute stroll, and you can actually see the Tower of London from certain spots on the street. The area’s got that authentic East London vibe, with proper pubs mixed in with newer coffee shops and curry houses that locals actually frequent. Aldgate East tube station is close enough that you don’t need to plan your departure times around a long walk.
The Room
My room was… well, it was exactly what I expected for the price point. Clean, functional, with a decent bed that didn’t leave me aching in the morning. The bathroom’s compact but everything works properly — hot water comes fast, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed. You get a small TV, basic Wi-Fi that actually connects, and enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped.
Practical Matters
There’s no on-site restaurant, but you know what? That’s not necessarily a bad thing in this neighborhood. Within two blocks you’ve got everything from proper fish and chips to decent Indian takeaway. The front desk folks are pretty helpful with recommendations — they pointed me toward this Bengali place around the corner that was absolutely brilliant. They’ll hold packages for you and sort out basic tourist questions without making you feel like you’re bothering them.
Why Guests Appreciate It
Look, Accommodation Plus isn’t trying to be something it’s not. It’s clean, the location works brilliantly for exploring central London without paying central London hotel prices, and the staff treat you like a person rather than a booking number. If you’re the type who spends most of your time out exploring the city anyway, this place gives you a solid base without the unnecessary bells and whistles. The 7.3 rating makes sense — it delivers exactly what it promises, nothing more, nothing less.
