Welcome London – Short’s Gardens
First Impressions
When I first stumbled upon Welcome London – Short’s Gardens, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a hotel tucked away on such a narrow street in Camden. But stepping inside completely changed my perspective — this four-star property feels more like a boutique hideaway than your typical chain hotel. The lobby has this warm, contemporary vibe that immediately tells you someone put real thought into the design.
Perfect Covent Garden Location
Here’s what I love about Short’s Gardens — you’re literally a two-minute walk from Covent Garden’s main piazza, but you’re on this quiet little street that most tourists never discover. I mean, you can slip out for breakfast at Monmouth Coffee Company, browse Neal’s Yard, or catch a show in the West End, then retreat back to your peaceful corner. The Holborn tube station is right there too, which makes getting anywhere in London ridiculously easy.
The Room Experience
My room was compact but cleverly designed — every inch serves a purpose without feeling cramped. The bed was genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathroom, while small, had one of those rainfall showers that actually works properly. What impressed me most was the attention to details like USB ports by the bed and blackout curtains that actually block out the morning light.
Practical Amenities
The ground-floor restaurant serves decent food, though honestly, with Borough Market and countless pubs within walking distance, I barely used it. There’s no parking on-site, but that’s pretty standard for central London — I’d recommend the NCP car park on Drury Lane if you’re driving. The staff were helpful when I needed recommendations, and they actually knew the neighborhood well enough to suggest places beyond the obvious tourist spots.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the fanciest hotel in London, but it gets the fundamentals right in a location that’s hard to beat. You’re paying for that Covent Garden address without the premium prices of the big-name hotels on the main streets. The 9.2 rating makes sense — it’s the kind of place where everything works as it should, the staff care about your experience, and you feel like you’ve discovered something rather than just booked another generic room. If you want to be in the heart of things but still get some peace at night, Welcome London delivers exactly that.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
