Waterloo Apartment
First Impressions
When I first walked up to Waterloo Apartment, I’ll be honest — I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior of Santley House. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds in London are tucked away in these converted Victorian buildings that don’t show off from the street. This four-star place really surprised me once I got inside.
The Space That Works
The apartment itself feels like someone actually thought about how travelers live, not just sleep. There’s a proper kitchen with everything you need — I mean, decent knives, a real coffee maker, even a dishwasher. The living area doesn’t feel cramped like so many London places do, and honestly, after spending days walking around the city, having space to spread out made such a difference.
Location Insights
Here’s what I loved about staying in Lambeth — you’re close enough to everything but away from the tourist chaos. Waterloo Station is maybe a seven-minute walk, which means you can get anywhere in London without thinking twice about it. The South Bank is right there too, so those evening walks along the Thames became part of my routine. Plus, there’s this little corner shop just down Frazier Street that saved me multiple times when I needed basics.
Why It Actually Works
The room setup here is smart — they’ve managed to fit everything without making it feel like a puzzle. The bed was comfortable (no strange creaks or too-soft mattresses), and the bathroom had proper water pressure, which honestly can be hit-or-miss in London conversions. I also appreciated that the windows actually opened properly — sounds small, but after a few days in the city, fresh air becomes precious.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it strikes that balance between independence and comfort. You get the freedom of having your own space — cook when you want, come and go as you please — but with the reliability of proper hotel standards. The building stays quiet at night, which isn’t always guaranteed in this part of town. And the value? Well, for what you pay compared to cramped hotel rooms in Zone 1, it actually makes sense.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
