VICHY – The Hampstead Star | Prime Location
First Impressions
VICHY – The Hampstead Star | Prime Location sits right on Rosslyn Hill, and honestly, you can’t miss it. The building has that classic London townhouse charm but with a modern twist that actually works. I mean, it’s not trying too hard to be boutique-y, which I appreciate. The entrance feels welcoming without being overly fancy — just the right vibe for a four-star place in this neighborhood.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally a two-minute walk from Hampstead Heath tube station, which means central London is ridiculously easy to reach. But you know what’s better? Hampstead Village is right there, with those winding streets full of independent cafes and bookshops that tourists usually miss. The famous Heath itself is practically on your doorstep, and trust me, that morning jog (or leisurely stroll) through the park beats any hotel gym.
The Room Experience
My room was surprisingly spacious for London standards — and I’ve stayed in plenty of shoebox-sized places here. The decor strikes this nice balance between contemporary and cozy, with decent lighting that doesn’t make you squint when you’re trying to read. What really impressed me was the attention to detail: proper blackout curtains, multiple charging points where you actually need them, and a bathroom that doesn’t require contortionist skills to use the shower.
Neighborhood Gems
The real charm of staying here is Camden’s mix of village-y Hampstead and edgier areas just south. You’ve got the famous Camden Market about twenty minutes away by foot, but honestly, I preferred exploring the local pubs around Rosslyn Hill. There’s this little restaurant called The Wells just up the road — proper gastropub with food that doesn’t disappoint. Plus, if you need groceries or forgot something, there’s a Waitrose practically next door.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the flashiest hotel in London, but it gets the fundamentals right. The staff actually seem to know the area and give useful recommendations rather than just handing you a generic tourist map. The 8.6 rating makes sense — it’s the kind of place where everything works as it should, the parking situation is sorted if you’re driving, and you feel like you’re staying in a proper London neighborhood rather than some tourist bubble. It’s honest value in an area that could easily get away with charging more for less.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
