Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Urban Chic – Rathbone, you immediately get that it’s trying to be cooler than your average four-star hotel — and honestly, it mostly succeeds. The lobby has this sleek, contemporary vibe with dark wood and metal accents that feels more like a boutique property than a chain. It’s tucked away on a quieter street in Fitzrovia, which I actually prefer to being right on Oxford Street with all that chaos.
Location & Neighborhood
The location is what really sold me on this place. You’re basically in the heart of London but on Rathbone Place, which feels almost residential compared to the madness just a few blocks away. The British Museum is literally a five-minute walk, and you can stroll to Oxford Circus or Tottenham Court Road without breaking a sweat. What I love is that Fitzrovia has all these little independent cafes and pubs that tourists haven’t completely discovered yet.
The Room Experience
My room was compact but smartly designed — they’ve clearly thought about how to maximize every inch of space. The bed was comfortable enough, though the pillows were a bit soft for my taste. The bathroom had this rainfall shower that actually worked properly, which you know isn’t always a given in London hotels. The windows faced the street, so there was some noise in the evening, but nothing that kept me awake.
Dining & Amenities
The restaurant downstairs serves decent Modern British food, though it’s a bit pricey for what you get. I ended up eating there once and then exploring the neighborhood instead — which honestly worked out better. There’s no spa or pool, but they do have a small fitness area that’s adequate if you need to squeeze in a workout. The staff were genuinely helpful with recommendations, not just handing you the standard tourist brochure.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing about Urban Chic – Rathbone — it delivers on its promise without trying too hard. You’re getting solid four-star comfort in a neighborhood that feels authentically London, not like a tourist theme park. The price point makes sense for what you’re getting, and the location means you can actually walk to most of the major sights while still feeling like you’re staying somewhere with character. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it’ll give you a comfortable base for exploring the city without the generic hotel feel.

Lovely appartement in perfect location.
Very close to Oxford Street and tube station (Tottenham Court Road).
The appartement is spacious and well equipped. Enough room to comfortably sleep 3, sofa bed is quite big.
What could be improved: Bit noisy at night, but quiet after 11.

"Great central London stay"
Small but perfect design and enough area to eat watch TV and go to bed great bathroom / shower
What could be improved: Communication with the guest services team can be poor with you chasing them all the time then you have to pay them via their system plus a deposit so it is expensive initially also our flat was behind a door that looked like it was a cupboard so took a while to find it

"Good"
The surroundings were excellent. Apartment was clean specially compared to the hallway. Bedroom was spacious and kitchen was well equipped. Nespresso machine was a bonus.
What could be improved: Water in the toilet was dripping constantly and it was rather annoying. Landlord did not bother to find a solution. As the bedroom was next to bathroom we slept three nights next to dripping toilet. When I sent an e-mail asking if we could store our luggage we never got an answer.

"Clean and great location"
We received a free upgrade which was great and unexpected as meant guest 2 had a room rather than setting up the sofa bed, we certainly appreciated this.
The room was clean, spacious and in a great location close to everything we needed.
Check in and out times were perfect with the option to extend.
What could be improved: The communication prior to arrival with queries wasn't great.
The system seems overplecated and could be simplified for guests.
After payment a deposit is required to cover damages ( I completely understand needing protection) but other venues take card details where it's agreed that money can be taken if there are discrepancies. I did not feel comfortable having to pay more than the room price with no stipulation or confirmation when making the payment that, that is what it is for.
Hoping to have that refunded accordingly.
Fire alarm testing taking place ( would have been nice to know it was scheduled! We have not long got up , then had alarms going off. So we had to quickly dress and stand outside until given the all clear.

"Rathbone is a beautiful spot with many restaurants and bars on its doorstep."
Loved the location and the apartment was beautiful and very well equipped.
What could be improved: My only issue was the quilt on pull out couch was not clean and i only discovered this the next morning. My stomach turns even thinking of it. It was a pity as everything else was perfect.
