Overview

First Impressions

Honestly, Twickes Townhouse caught me off guard in the best way possible. You’d never guess from the quiet residential street that you’re about to step into what feels like a boutique hotel that actually gets it right. The Georgian facade blends so seamlessly with the neighboring homes in London‘s Twickenham that I almost walked past it — which, I realized later, is exactly the point.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I love about this spot: you’re genuinely in a London neighborhood, not some touristy bubble. Twickenham feels like where actual Londoners live, with proper pubs and local shops just down Norcutt Road. The rugby stadium’s a short walk if that’s your thing, but honestly, I was more charmed by how easy it was to catch the train into central London — about 25 minutes to Waterloo, and the station’s practically around the corner.

The Room Experience

My room was what I’d call thoughtfully designed without trying too hard. The Victorian details they’ve kept — like the original cornicing — work surprisingly well with modern touches that don’t feel forced. What really impressed me was the attention to actual comfort: blackout curtains that properly block light, a shower with decent water pressure, and — this sounds small but matters — enough plugs near the bed for your phone and laptop.

Dining & Atmosphere

The ground floor restaurant operates more like a neighborhood bistro that happens to be attached to a hotel, which works brilliantly. I had dinner there twice, actually — the menu changes regularly and focuses on ingredients you can tell they care about. Breakfast isn’t your typical hotel buffet situation either; they do proper cooked-to-order dishes that feel worth getting up for. The staff seems to know regulars by name, which says something about the place.

Why Guests Love It

You know what makes this four-star property special? It doesn’t feel like it’s performing “boutique hotel” for you — it just is one, naturally. The service is attentive without being hovering, the design is comfortable rather than Instagram-obsessed, and there’s secure parking if you’re driving (which, in London, feels like winning the lottery). It’s the kind of place where you can actually relax instead of feeling like you need to appreciate how cool everything is supposed to be.

Early hotels booking in London secures West End tickets, rooftop cocktail nights, and small-group afternoon tea sessions.

"A perfect place to stay when visit family in the area. We would stay again definitely."
It was warm, comfortable beds and settees. Very near to Twickham Green shops and restaurants also family. Very quiet area. Neighbours friendly. Ground floor and first floor toilets. Good shower over bath. Hot water. Tesco delivered food. Dish washer very good. Used the hobs on the cooker. Fridge freezer. Handy for London if you want to tour around
What could be improved: The upstairs toilet needs checking as the water continued to flow into the toilet after it had been flushed and so needed flushing several times plus to stop this happening. The owners are most probably not aware of this. It’s probably easy to fix. A non slip bath mat for inside the bath might be useful. Also a bath mat for when you get out of the shower could be useful too.

"Was great! Would do it again in a heartbeat"
It was great to have access to a whole house in a great neighborhood. Space was clean and had everything we needed. We were initially planning on bringing our kids and this would have been just the spot for it- The first night we heard animal sounds outside that threw us off and the next morning saw a fox on the tin roof across the way- it was wild! (And no new sounds the following nights) It was walkable In the evenings- like the Americans we are- we binged on Ted lasso. There were great pubs and coffee shops a short walk away. We also loved that this was relatively close to St Mary’s Twickenham (we were there for a graduation.

"Very good"
Location is good with many bus routes to bring us to many surrounding attractions like Richmond and Kingston upon Thames, Hampton Court Palace. Strawberry Hill Castle is in walkable distance. Very easy to take a bus from Heathrow airport to Twickenham. There is aeroplane sound but not bothering at all. Size is good with 3 bedrooms for family. 16 mins walk from the train station, 5 mins away from the nearest main street with convenient stores.

"Exceptional"
Very nice property, quiet surroundings (except for the air traffic to and from Heathrow). Near to the centre of Twickenham with cosy pubs. Good railway connection to London. Waterloo station is only about 20 minutes by train.
What could be improved: The air traffic to and from Heathrow could get a bid loud during daytime, but there are no flights during the night.

"Passable"
Townhouse was excellent and close to the venues I needed to get to in Twickenham
What could be improved: I had a major problem with the check in process and did not get into the property until almost 6pm. There appeared to be a breakdown in communication between yourselves and the host. I actually thought I had been scammed! Consequently I checked back into the Alexander Pope Hotel where I stayed the previous night but obviously had to cancel out of there when your confirmation details were finally received. To make things worse I have had ongoing problems with Alexander Pope Hotel re the cancellation with them. as I have had a visa charge from them for $1001.87 nzd for a 2 night no show with them.
