Tucked away on a quiet cobblestone mews in the heart of London, Tranquil 2 Bedroom Apartment in Southwark- ZONE 1 honestly feels like stumbling upon a local secret. The building itself — Garrett House — sits on one of those charming side streets that tourists typically walk right past, which is exactly what makes it so appealing. You know what struck me first? The absolute silence once you step off the main road, despite being smack in the middle of Zone 1.
The Space
This four-star apartment spreads across a generous layout that actually feels like a proper home rather than just another rental. The two bedrooms are thoughtfully arranged — one clearly the master with a king bed, the other perfect for friends or family with twin beds that can be pushed together if needed. What I really appreciated was the full kitchen setup; I mean, you’ve got everything from a proper dishwasher to decent counter space, which honestly makes a huge difference when you’re staying more than a few nights.
Location & Neighborhood
Being in Southwark puts you right where London gets interesting — you’re walking distance from Borough Market (about 8 minutes), the Tate Modern is practically next door, and the South Bank stretches out like your personal riverside playground. The thing is, most people think staying south of the Thames means you’re somehow “out of the way,” but that’s completely backwards. You’re closer to the good stuff than half the tourists cramming into overpriced hotels near Oxford Street.
Local Insights
Here’s something you won’t find in guidebooks — that little Moroccan place around the corner on Southwark Street does the best tagine I’ve had outside of Marrakech, and it’s open until midnight most nights. The Southwark Street market runs Thursday through Saturday mornings, and honestly, it’s got better produce than Borough Market without the Instagram crowds. Plus, there’s a proper pub called The George Inn that’s been serving pints since the 1600s, just a five-minute walk away.

"Exceptional"
This place is ideally located, comfortable and well appointed for an extended stay.
A 3 minute walk to Southwark tube station gets us anywhere in London in 3 to 20 minutes. There are also numerous nice restaurants and pubs within 5 minute walk too.
Furthermore the staff were extremely attentive to anything we needed throughout the stay, never taking more than 5 minutes to respond to our messages. They even accommodated a very early check-in which made our first day even better.

What could be improved: We didn't like the fact we were only here for 10 days! Other than that, the accomodations were a 10!

"Great!"
Fantastic location, close to main sights, train and underground stations, buses, everything within a short walk. Apartment is spacious, perfect for a small family or friends travelling. Very clean and everything we needed for our stay was there. Definitely top of our wishlist for the next visit to London.
What could be improved: Nothing really, the key pickup was a very small inconvenience as we arrived using the underground, if travelling by taxi it would be more of a bother but definitely not a major concern. Other than that we had no problems.

"Just what we needed for our stay"
We chose this apt because of its location to the underground. We were traveling sans car and wanted to access as much by foot and tube as possible as this was our first visit ever to London. This apt is well located and is nicely appointed. Location was terrific, good wifi and comfy beds. Just what we needed for coming back after exploring all day.
What could be improved: Communication regarding the key pickup and front entrance was held back until day of arrival. This was a bit off-putting as I had to go to a store front to collect keys and then found front entrance down an "alley" with waste bins all around. Didn't see this in any of the pictures or communication. On a bright note: I could leave keys in mailbox upon departure and, other than the bins being a bit unsightly, not to be a deterrent as the place was perfect for what we needed and nicely appointed.

"13 days in London"
The location is perfect! The size of the flat is great.
What could be improved: The elevation of the tub/shower is very dangerous. Should be transferred to a regular shower to the floor level.
The patio needs an urgent cleaning and removal of bushes/weeds. Having wine in the evening outside and two mice came out from the bushes.
Also, it doesn't have too much ventilation, so it can get pretty hot inside even with the fans. No A/C.
The carpets need to be changed urgently, very dirty.
Need extra sheets for the main bedroom.

"Brilliant Location"

What could be improved: Our expectation of the patio was much higher. The neighbours windows open directly onto it. However, this is London, so any patio at all is a great bonus

What could be improved: The room at the front of the property had a drain pipe that was leaking so noisy.

"Great location and exactly what we needed."
very well equipped. The place had all the things we needed, communication was great and everything was set up when we arrived.
The kitchen is very well equipped. The bedrooms have all the bedding and blankets you need.
It was warm and pretty cosy.
Great location, convenient for what we needed.
What could be improved: The beds are quite small and the pillows are not the most comfortable. Larger beds and good quality pillows would make for an amazing night's sleep here.
The towels are fine, but quite small and thin. Investing in thicker, larger towels would be something guests will love, I am sure.
The alleyway can be noisy at night and in the early morning, but that's city life for you.

"Our stay was just OK, probably would not recommend it for someone going there"
Location was good
What could be improved: There needs to be a thorough cleaning of the bathroom area to remove the mold around the sink.
It seems the exhaust system doesn’t work real well in there. Also, the outside patio area was a mess.

"Estancia maravillosa"
La ubicación es muy buena, cerca del metro, y de la estación de Waterloo. El apartamento estaba limpio y bien equipado con todo, y además nos permitieron hacer el check in antes al estar libre la noche anterior, por lo que fue fantástico para poder dejar las maletas. Las camas muy cómodas, la ropa de cama también. Volveríamos a repetir.
What could be improved: Nos hubiera gustado que tuviera algún sitio para dejar las maletas el último día, ya que desde que dejas el apartamento a las 11 hasta por la tarde que nos íbamos, no teníamos donde dejarlas para visitar la ciudad, y tuvimos que buscar un sitio donde guardan equipaje y tenernos que trasladar para llevarlas.
