First Impressions
I’ll be honest — when I first spotted Top Floor Spacious Studio Flat on High Road in Finchley, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior. But stepping into this unique boutique hotel without official star rating completely changed my perspective. The building itself has that classic North London character, and once you take the lift up to the top floor, you realize why they put “spacious” right in the name.
The Space
This apartment feels more like a friend’s well-designed flat than a typical hotel room. The slanted ceiling gives it this cozy attic vibe, but there’s actually tons of headroom where it matters. What really impressed me was the kitchen setup — it’s not just some tiny kitchenette tucked in a corner, but a proper space where you can actually cook if you want to. The windows flood the place with natural light during the day, and honestly, the views across North London aren’t half bad.
Location & Neighborhood
Finchley isn’t exactly central London, but that’s actually part of its charm. High Road has this lovely mix of independent shops and cafes that locals frequent — you know, the kind of places where the barista remembers your order after a couple of visits. The tube connections are solid too; you can get into central London without too much fuss, but you’re far enough out that you’re not dealing with the constant tourist crowds.
Local Life
What I loved about staying here was getting a taste of actual London residential life. There’s a great little Turkish restaurant just down the road that stays open late, and the weekend farmers market on the high street is worth timing your stay around. The area feels safe for evening walks, and there’s decent parking if you’re driving — which isn’t something you can say about most of London, to be fair.
Why Guests Love It
This place works brilliantly for travelers who want more than just a bed for the night. The space gives you room to spread out your things properly, and having that kitchen means you can grab fresh ingredients from the local shops and actually prepare something decent. It’s especially good for longer stays when you start craving a bit of normalcy. The host clearly knows what they’re doing — everything from check-in to local recommendations felt thoughtfully handled without being overly formal about it.
