First Impressions
Tooting Rooms & Studio by PrimeCityHosts sits on a quiet residential street in South London, and honestly, it’s the kind of place that grows on you. The building itself is unassuming — a converted house that fits right into the neighborhood — but that’s actually part of its charm. You won’t find a grand lobby here, just a straightforward check-in process and the sense that you’re staying somewhere locals might actually live.
The Space
I stayed in one of their studio units, and the room surprised me with how much they managed to fit into a compact space. The kitchenette is basic but functional — you’ve got a mini-fridge, microwave, and enough counter space to prepare simple meals. The bed was comfortable enough, though the whole setup feels more like a well-designed apartment than a traditional hotel room. Storage is limited, so pack light if you’re staying more than a few nights.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what I wish someone had told me: Tooting isn’t central London, but it’s surprisingly well-connected. The Tooting Broadway tube station is about a 10-minute walk away, and you’re looking at roughly 20-25 minutes to get into central areas like Westminster or Covent Garden. The neighborhood itself is pretty multicultural — there’s fantastic Indian food on Tooting High Street, and honestly, some of the best curry I had during my entire London trip was just around the corner.
The Neighborhood Experience
What struck me most was how residential everything feels. You’re not in tourist London here — you’re in actual London, where people live and work. There’s a big Sainsbury’s nearby for groceries, and Tooting Common is perfect for morning runs if that’s your thing. The area feels safe, though it’s definitely quieter at night compared to central zones. I mean, don’t expect buzzing nightlife right outside your door.
Why Guests Choose It
Look, this isn’t a polished hotel experience with concierge service and daily housekeeping. But if you want independence, decent value for money, and a taste of London beyond the tourist bubble, it works. The hosts are responsive when you need them, and the self-check-in process is smooth once you get the hang of it. You’re paying significantly less than you would for central London accommodation, and the trade-off — a slightly longer commute and fewer amenities — might be worth it depending on your priorities and budget.
