Overview
First Impressions
Walking into The Royal Sheperd on Curzon Street feels a bit like discovering a well-kept secret in Mayfair. This four-star property doesn’t scream for attention from the street — and honestly, that’s part of its charm. The lobby has this understated elegance that’s distinctly British, with dark wood paneling and club chairs that make you want to settle in with a good book.
The Mayfair Location
You know what’s brilliant about staying here? You’re smack in the middle of one of London’s most prestigious neighborhoods without the eye-watering prices of some nearby hotels. Berkeley Square is literally around the corner — I mean, you can pop over to Annabel’s if that’s your scene, or just enjoy the lovely garden square for a morning coffee. The Bond Street tube station is about a three-minute walk, which makes getting anywhere in the city ridiculously easy.
The Rooms
My room was on the fourth floor, and while it wasn’t enormous by American standards, it felt perfectly proportioned for London. The decor strikes this nice balance between traditional and contemporary — think rich fabrics and modern touches without going overboard on either. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious, actually, with one of those rainfall showers that you end up staying in way too long.
Dining and Atmosphere
The hotel’s restaurant serves solid British fare with some international options thrown in. Nothing groundbreaking, but the Sunday roast was properly done, and the wine list had some nice surprises. What I really appreciated was the bar area — it’s got this cozy, members’ club vibe where you can actually have a conversation without shouting. The staff here genuinely seem to care about what they’re doing, which isn’t always a given in this part of town.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing about The Royal Sheperd — it delivers exactly what it promises without trying to be something it’s not. You’re staying in Mayfair at reasonable rates (well, reasonable for Mayfair), the service is attentive but not fussy, and you can walk to Green Park, Piccadilly, or Oxford Street in minutes. The 7.8 rating makes sense to me — it’s not perfect, but it’s reliably good at everything that matters. Plus, there’s something refreshing about a hotel that focuses on being genuinely comfortable rather than just Instagram-worthy.
Early hotels booking in London secures West End tickets, rooftop cocktail nights, and small-group afternoon tea sessions.

"A very good experience."
Great location. Ample space for a family of 4. Very clean. Extremely responsive and helpful property managers.
What could be improved: Downstairs door alarm was beeping throughout our stay. Very faint from our location, but always present.

"A very nice stay and deserving of its high ratings"
The place is well located , near Hyde and Green Parks , as well as minutes from the tube . The apartment is new , finished to a high standard . The property manager is prompt with our requests for additional items , and also generally helpful . It’s a spacious 2 bedroom , 2 bathroom configuration which works well for 3-6 persons .
What could be improved: One of the beds was too softly sprung .

"Lovely, upscale flat in a great location. Would highly recommend!"
Location was great - super close to restaurants, cafes, Hyde Park and the Underground. The flat is newly furnished and came with high-end amenities. It feels like really good to be there! Hosts were very responsive and understanding when our flight and arrival time were delayed.
What could be improved: The master bedroom is a bit small, though ample. Required safety deposit orchestration was inconvenient, but I understand the rationale for it.

"Nice small cozy flat for family traveling to central London"
Very central to all attractions and parks. Clean facilities with everything one needs for traveling with our 1 year old baby. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. The refund of the deposit went smoothly.
What could be improved: Guest bedroom close to Curzon street is not sufficiently sound proof. Could be a problem for light sleepers.
The deposit handing is done through bank transfers but through a 3rd party handler, e.g. PayPal or credit holding, making it slightly difficult for international travellers.

"Even better than expected, would definitely book again"
Very clean and tidy, exactly as shown in the picture
What could be improved: The airfan was a bit load, but understandable and only needed during extreme hot weather

"Do not book this place. I am still fighting with booking for a refund"
What could be improved: Unfortunately there was nothing good with the place.
The ground level was dirty and in poor conditions. The apartment was not as advertised.
It is defintely smaller to what the photos suggest, toilets in poor conditions (dirty, mould), dirty
Owner told us that one wardrobe door was an issue as could fall ( and we were travelling with a kid)
We found a kitchen towel under the bed linen
All in all terrible experience, we decided to leave after the first night as we were so disapointed.
I am till today fighting for a refund with booking. Property owner tried to oversmart us and booking saying we did not check in therefore we were only given a no show rate back by booking. Last update booking said they could not refund us because owner would lose income. Booking offered a 15% credit back, which we did not accept.
