The Level at Melia White House
First Impressions
Walking into The Level at Melia White House, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical five-star hotel experience. It’s actually the VIP floor concept of the larger Melia White House, which means you get all the luxury perks without the massive lobby crowds. The check-in happens in a dedicated lounge area that feels more like an exclusive club than a hotel reception — honestly, it sets the tone perfectly for what’s to come.
Location & Neighborhood
The location on Albany Street is pretty brilliant if you know London well. You’re literally steps from Regent’s Park, which I mean, having that green space right there changes everything about your stay. The Great Portland Street tube station is a three-minute walk, putting you on the Circle, Hammersmith & City, and Metropolitan lines. What’s clever about this spot is you’re close enough to Oxford Street’s shopping chaos (about 10 minutes on foot) but far enough away that you actually get some peace in the evenings.
The Level Experience
Here’s where things get interesting — The Level guests get access to a private lounge that operates almost like a boutique hotel within the hotel. The room itself feels more like a luxury apartment than a standard hotel space, with contemporary furnishings that actually work well together. You’ll find the minibar is complimentary (which, let’s be honest, never happens anymore), and there’s a Nespresso machine that doesn’t require an engineering degree to operate.
Dining & Amenities
The Level lounge serves continental breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening canapés — sort of like having your own private restaurant that changes throughout the day. The main hotel has a proper dining venue downstairs, but honestly, I found myself staying in the lounge most of the time because the service feels more personal. There’s also access to a small but well-equipped gym, though you know what? With Regent’s Park right there, outdoor exercise makes more sense.
Why Guests Love It
What really works about this place is the balance between luxury and livability. You’re getting genuine five-star service without the stuffiness that sometimes comes with it. The staff remembers your name, your coffee preference, and somehow always knows exactly when you need fresh towels. The parking situation is handled through valet service, which removes that London driving headache completely. It’s the kind of place where business travelers feel productive and leisure guests feel pampered — and that’s actually harder to pull off than it sounds.
