Overview
First Impressions
Walking into The Hoxton, Southwark, you immediately get that “industrial chic meets cozy living room” vibe that The Hoxton brand does so well. The lobby buzzes with a mix of locals working on laptops and travelers plotting their next move — it’s that kind of place where the line between hotel and neighborhood hangout gets delightfully blurred. The four-star property sits right on Blackfriars Road, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better for exploring both sides of the Thames.
Location & Neighborhood
You’re literally a two-minute walk from Southwark tube station, which means central London is at your fingertips. But here’s what I really love about this spot — you’ve got Borough Market just down the road (perfect for weekend food wandering), the Tate Modern practically next door, and you can walk across Blackfriars Bridge to the City in about ten minutes. The neighborhood has that authentic London feel without being touristy, if you know what I mean.
The Room Experience
The rooms here are classic Hoxton — compact but cleverly designed with those signature touches like the vintage radio and locally sourced snacks in the fridge. My room had floor-to-ceiling windows that actually opened (a rarity in London hotels), and the bed was one of those “sink right in” situations after a long day of sightseeing. The bathrooms are small but functional, with decent water pressure — something you can’t always count on in London.
Food & Social Spaces
The ground-floor restaurant and bar area becomes this great social hub throughout the day. Breakfast is solid — not fancy, but fresh and filling with good coffee that actually tastes like coffee. In the evenings, the space transforms into a proper neighborhood spot where you’ll find as many locals as hotel guests grabbing drinks. They’ve got that relaxed atmosphere where you can nurse a pint and plan tomorrow’s adventures without feeling rushed.
Why Guests Love It
What sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both polished and unpretentious. The staff actually seem to enjoy working there, which makes a difference when you need directions or restaurant recommendations. Plus, you’re getting genuine London neighborhood vibes while still being incredibly well-connected to everything you want to see. For the price point, especially considering the location and the overall experience, it’s one of those hotels that just works — no drama, no disappointments, just a solid base for exploring the city.

"Good price for a hotel placed close to central attractions"
The location is convenient for a quick stroll to different locations, easy to find.
The bed was comfortable.
Clean facility.
I liked that there wasn't room cleaning unless you specified it, making the room more "mine" sort of without thinking about staff coming in.
What could be improved: The water pressure was a little bit weak.
No slippers provided.

"A really nice quality of room, comfy bed in a great location for the Southbank."
A good location for the trip we had planned, stylish comfy rooms. Didn’t get a chance to use the bar/restaurant on this visit but they look welcoming and certainly had a great atmosphere.

"Classy hotel, great staff, great location."
Love this place. Excellent location within easy reach of many top attractions. The hotel has a classy, hip, cosmopolitan vibe and helpful, friendly staff. Comfortable rooms and despite overlooking a busy road, the rooms are very quiet.

What could be improved: Disappointed with Seabird. Have visited before and had a great time. This time there was less ambiance, not helped by the very pricey drinks. The lobby bar had a much better atmosphere.

"Great location with lovely rooms and staff!"
Great location near a few subways and walking distance to Westminster. Super friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are amazing with crazy comfy beds, modern touches and very clean. This is the second Hoxton I have stayed, at and my second time at this exact one, and it likely won't be the last!
What could be improved: Can't think of anything at all.
