Overview

First Impressions

The Hoover Building by Artsy is honestly one of those places that catches you completely off guard. I mean, you’re staying in an actual converted Art Deco factory — the former Hoover vacuum cleaner factory, to be precise — and it’s this incredible piece of 1930s architecture that somehow got transformed into apartments. The building itself is a landmark, and when you pull up, you realize you’re not just getting a place to sleep, you’re getting a piece of London history.

Location & Getting Around

Greenford might not be central London, but actually that works in your favor here. You’re on the Piccadilly line, which means a straight shot into the city without all the transfers — takes about 45 minutes to get to Piccadilly Circus, which isn’t bad at all. The area’s pretty quiet and residential, with a Tesco nearby and some decent local pubs. What I really appreciated was the parking situation — way easier than trying to deal with Zone 1 nonsense.

The Apartment Experience

This is where things get interesting because you’re essentially getting an apartment rather than a traditional hotel room. Flat 36 has this quirky layout that feels properly lived-in, not sterile like most hotels. The kitchen is small but functional — I actually cooked a few meals, which saved me a fortune compared to eating out constantly. The Art Deco windows are massive, and you get these great views of the surrounding area that change throughout the day.

What Makes It Special

Look, this two-star place isn’t trying to be fancy, and that’s exactly why it works. The building’s history is everywhere — original features mixed with modern updates that don’t try too hard. You’ll find yourself taking photos of details you’d never notice in a regular hotel. The communal areas have this vintage industrial vibe that actually feels authentic rather than designed by committee. It’s quirky in the best possible way.

Why Guests Love It

Honestly, if you’re looking for room service and a concierge, this isn’t your spot. But if you want something different — a base that feels like you’re actually living in London rather than just visiting — then you get it. The value is solid, especially considering you’re staying in a protected building that most Londoners have heard of. Plus, having that kitchenette means you can grab groceries and eat like a human instead of surviving on overpriced sandwiches and hotel breakfast.

"Large comfortable apartment with good access to public transport."
Good location with easy access to the Central Line. Comfortable beds and plenty of space. Folding beds in waredrobe with extra blankets was good. Comfortable furnishings and generally nice and clean.
What could be improved: Ran out of hot water daily after 1-2 showers which the host told us is ‘normal’?! Missing remotes for the TV’s, host provided two more remotes (one of which was for a different brand of TV so didn’t work-and didn’t rectify this problem. We acquired another remote ourselves so we had full use of fscilities. One cupboard door in kitchen was completely broken off the hinges and sitting on floor on arrival and host did not rectify this. There’s a lot of stairs before you even enter the property and the stairwell access is very rough, flakey paint on walls and unkept. It was lacking basics like tea towels, glasses etc-the host provided extra glasses which was good. Main entranceway (near laundry) and upstairs bathroom both had musty damp smell which wasn’t very pleasant. Balcony off master bedroom had broken flooring and rusting broken window frame laying on ground.

"Extremely expensive after damage to my van"
Apartment was good.
What could be improved: Van was parked in the designated space we were there for 2 nights after the first night my brand new van 10 days old had window smashed and goods from inside stolen. Thankfully no tools were taken. I had to check out after the first night as I couldn’t get the window fixed that day and wasn’t prepared to have more stuff stolen or the van further damaged. The owner said this was nothing to do with them and refused to refund me for the 2nd night. Even though I spoke to the security guard in tescos and he said this happens all the time but the owner didn’t make us aware prior to our stay. This place is ok to stay if you arnt bringing a vehicle but we won’t be staying here again.

"Comfortable stay, Amazing location, with Great Hosts"
The Host was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and any minor hiccups were dealt with efficiently and quickly. The location was near a station so very handy for travelling in to London itself.
What could be improved: Nothing that we didnt like

"My worst ever review."
Good location, just 10-15 min walk to a Central line station. Good size of the property for a family of four. A big Tesco and a coffee shop just around the corner.
What could be improved: Very dirty.., especially the kitchen, the oven - horrible, the carpet in front of the oven - no idea when it was last cleaned/washed, same goes for the carpet in front of the sofa. The door of one of the kitchen cupboards was broken before our stay in December 2024 and, apparently, hasn't been repaired since, judging from the subsequent reviews. And all this is without mentioning the bathroom on the first floor and the unidentified hair on one of the pillows. However, I wouldn't mention any of it if it was not the incident from the last night of our stay. We booked the place mostly because of the parking spot as we travelled by car and from abroad. But surprise, surprise, it always looks better than it is in reality. The last night (or early morning), in the day of our departure the rear window of the car was broken and the shopping from the night before has disappeared. A coincidence or not, but it happened a few hours before our departure. Quite unpleasant thing to deal with when you are in a hurry to catch the ferry. BTW, my correspondence with the local police station is still ongoing, but this is another subject of conversation. In a nutshell, think twice when you book and especially if you are by car..

"Esperienza terribile con sherlock holmes (terrible experience with sherlock holmes)"
La fermata delle metro dista appena 5 minuti a piedi. Il supermercato è sotto casa 1 minuto a piedi. The metro station is just a 5-minute walk away. The supermarket is under the house 1 minute walk
What could be improved: Non appena siamo entrati in casa abbiamo riscontrato sin da subito le pessime condizioni di pulizia della casa. 1.
