The Exhibitionist Hotel
First Impressions
Walking up to The Exhibitionist Hotel on Queensberry Place, you immediately know this isn’t your typical five-star London property. The facade might look traditionally Victorian from the outside, but step through those doors and — wow. It’s like someone took a contemporary art gallery and decided people should sleep in it. I mean that in the best possible way.
Location & Neighborhood
You’re right in the heart of South Kensington here, which honestly couldn’t be better positioned if you tried. The Natural History Museum is literally a three-minute walk away, and you can see the Victoria and Albert Museum from some of the upper floor windows. What I love about this spot is that Queensberry Place itself is this quiet, tree-lined street that feels almost residential, so you’re not dealing with the chaos of the main thoroughfares. Yet Exhibition Road — with all its world-class museums — is right there when you want it.
The Design Experience
Here’s where things get interesting. The Exhibitionist takes its name seriously, showcasing contemporary art throughout the property in a way that actually works rather than feeling forced. Each floor has a different artistic theme, and the room I stayed in had this incredible photography installation that somehow made the space feel larger rather than cluttered. The interiors mix bold colors with luxury finishes — think deep emerald greens against polished marble, or unexpected pops of fuchsia in otherwise sophisticated spaces.
Room & Amenities
The rooms themselves are surprisingly spacious for London standards, with floor-to-ceiling windows that flood everything with natural light. What struck me most was the attention to detail — Egyptian cotton linens, a marble bathroom with a rainfall shower that actually has proper water pressure, and a minibar that’s been curated rather than just stocked with the usual suspects. There’s also this gorgeous restaurant on the ground floor called Dalloway Terrace, which spills out into a covered courtyard that feels like a secret garden in the middle of the city.
Why Guests Love It
Look, if you want traditional luxury, there are plenty of options in London. But if you appreciate when a hotel has a genuine point of view — when it’s trying to be something more than just a place to sleep — then you’ll get what The Exhibitionist is doing. The staff clearly understand the vision too; they’re knowledgeable about the art pieces and can tell you stories about the local area that go beyond the obvious tourist spots. It’s the sort of place where business travelers feel inspired rather than just comfortable, and where couples find plenty to talk about over dinner.
